Re: Tom Brady
I would say Brady was the most successful NFL player but I'm not so sure I would say he was the "greatest of all time in football and it's not even close".
Right or wrong, I feel Jerry Rice was equally the "best" (if not "greatest") at WR as Brady was "best" (if not "greatest") at QB.

No doubt. Rice and Barry Sanders were both better football players. And it ain't close either.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 2:06 pm I would say Brady was the most successful NFL player but I'm not so sure I would say he was the "greatest of all time in football and it's not even close".

Probably guys like Anthony Munoz and reggie white....maybe LT.
QBs just a more high profile, more important position.

Re: Tom Brady
He was one stubborn and persistent SOB. He proved you can factory-produce wins in a weak division. Matt Cassel won 10 with the prime Pats. But he was able to avoid injury and stick with good coaches and teams. I think the Brady era should be remembered for a raft of epically bad qbs aside from Manning. Montana was better. A better person too.

Re: Tom Brady
Brady went 16-0 with Cassel’s Pats team. 6 wins above replacement seems about right for the GOAT.Sparko wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 2:13 pm He was one stubborn and persistent SOB. Brady played against a ton of HOF QB’s like Manning, Roeth, Rodgers, Mahomes, etc.
Re: Tom Brady
Brady played on great teams.

I think Alex Smith wins several SBs on NE.
Re: Tom Brady
We are in the era of great quarterbacks now. Burrow tomorrow. The Dilfer-Rivers-Manning-Brady era is over.

Re: Tom Brady
As phenomenal as the Chiefs/Bills game was and how outstanding the QBs played, I think last weekend's games were great for helping remind people how important and valuable Kickers are.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 2:13 pmNo doubt. I have an uncle who's friends with Morten Anderson. So that puts him way ahead of Brady in my book too.

Re: Tom Brady
It's why he's the GOAT.
He gets the ball to your Jerry's and Barry's.
And often decides whether the Jerry's and Barry's get the ball.
Rice holds receiving and TD reception records.
So there is argument there.
But without Montana ( one of the best QBs ever ) and Steve Young, who knows if he woulda had the same numbers.
He won 3 Super Bowls.
Barry doesn't hold the most yards at his position.
He is 10th in TDs at his position.
He never won a Super Bowl.
Brady often worked with a shitty WR core.
He has the most passing yards.
The most passing TDs.
And has more Super Bowls than any NFL FRANCHISE.
It's not close.

Is there another position like quarterback?
I guess pitcher in baseball.

Re: Tom Brady
Also, don't like Brady, but it's kind of sad. Makes me feel older.
But if you're Brady, this is a pretty good time to leave.
You're still MVP level ( he's gotta be a top 3 vote getter for an MVP this season ).
You are down Godwin and crazypants AB and bring your team back down 27-3.
It's not your fault your team decides to single up Cooper Kupp, the leading receiver in the NFL, twice.

Re: Tom Brady
I'm tired of him. Glad to see him go.

THIS JUST IN.
COULD BE FAKE NEWS.
I hope it is just to upset JK.

Re: Tom Brady
Brady's an attention whore. He'll retire, then unretire, then retire again before unretiring and retiring one last time. Not a surprise.
He should heed the wisdom of that great existential philosopher, Marshall Mathers: "When your run is over, just admit when it's at its end."

Maybe I'm outta the loop.
Rodgers and Mahomes seem to be in all the ads.
