next soccer question
Re: next soccer question
As an example of the youth. Right now there are (at least) 37 players in England, Germany, Italy, France or Spain who will be 25 years old or younger when the 2022 World Cup Starts
5 - 18 y/o
6 - 19 y/o
6 - 20 y/o
9 - 21 y/o
6 - 22 y/o
1 - 23 y/o
2 - 24 y/o
2 - 25 y/o
Also have 27 y/o Zack Steffen
On top of that you have 8 more players aged 26-29.
And another 26 players scattered around other European clubs (all under 29 at the start of the 2022 World Cup)

Re: next soccer question
Then you need a better tactician if you have such a young squad. Greggggggg is the worst Xs and Os coach the US has maybe had in the last 3 decades. If you push youth, then push a coach who can get the most out of it.
Greggggg said they won a lot of 50/50 balls, Canada won 51% of those balls. They complained about the size of the field, but didn't change any tactics to go with it.

Not to be that guy, but the team that started more MLS players won yesterday.

Re: next soccer question
George Bello has completed a transfer to Bundesliga club Arminia Bielefeld. Number of young USMNT players in MLS continues to shrink.
Surprised that Miles Robinson stayed with Atlanta. Probably puts him on the outside looking in for a WC roster spot. CB is one of the more crowded positions while also having the most uncertainty. Also a little surprised that FC Dallas didn't sell Ferreira. I would expect him, Slonina, Cowell and Aaronson to be on the move this summer.

Re: next soccer question
US is really dumb to play this game outside tonight. Like really dumb.

I agree. While the cold weather would typically favor this US, this kind of cold weather is more likely to be an equalizer.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 9:47 am US is really dumb to play this game outside tonight. Like really dumb.
That said, this game could be played on Mars and the USMNT should still be able to get 3 points. There's no excuses tonight.
Re: next soccer question
It's going to be 0 degrees at kickoff.
Re: next soccer question
One of the (many) things that makes US Soccer such a fucking clown show is scheduling these types of matches.

Re: next soccer question
Some guy from ESPN FC made a great point. And I can't find the video to post here but it was outstanding.
He said US Soccer is a big country with the thought process and mindset of a small country. Try to find every advantage you can, then outthink yourself and fail. US just needs to show up and say we're going to beat you, no matter where, no matter when. But they play these dumb mind games that don't usually work out.

Well, I don't mind scheduling CONCACAF games in places like Minnesota.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 10:26 am Some guy from ESPN FC made a great point. And I can't find the video to post here but it was outstanding.

You play in Texas or Cali, half the fans are cheering against you.
But play the game indoors ( if its February ) dudes.

Who cares if half the stadium is going to be cheering against you!? Beat the fuck out of them. Again, mind games that shouldn't matter, matter with this organization.

Although I would argue that if you're playing Mexico you should try to get a home crowd.
Other than that? In CONCACAF? Fuck off and beat these clowns.

Completely fine playing Mexico in Columbus, KC, Minnesota, wherever up north. But the other countries are THAT big of a concern? Miss me with that.Cascadia wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:04 amExactly.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 10:48 am Who cares if half the stadium is going to be cheering against you!? Re: next soccer question
If KU played at Charles Koch, they'd essentially be in neutral territory.
And while ksu ( and the likes of Honduras, El Salvador ) is a team you SHOULD normally beat, you still would rather be playing at home, with a home crowd.

Re: next soccer question
USMNT isn’t KU, much closer to KSU unfortunately.
And, KU should be willing to play anyone, anywhere, anytime.
