In my eyes, there is a big misconception here. Yes they've won 9 of 10 or whatever it is. But they've also lost 6-0 to Jags. Won by 1 at home against the Giants and 3 to Miami. The last 2 games mentioned were home games. They're not setting the world on fire or anything with this stretch. Most impressive win was a 23-0 home win against Dallas. They're doing enough to win. Which is ultimately what matters, but they aren't world beaters during this stretch.

Agreed on that front for the most part. But I also do think they found something with Ward at CB. He was damn good against Oakland after his game against Seattle where he was right there on this great passes and catches by Lockett and Baldwin. Not flag-happy like Scandrick and Nelson back there.jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 2:12 pmCounterpoint: the Chiefs defense is catastrophically terrible.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 2:06 pmMan, I just don't know. If Watson makes any throws without bouncing half of his incomplete passes into the turf, Houston likely gets that game close or maybe wins. Indy just wasn't that impressive after the first quarter.jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 12:41 pm I am putting a lot of stock in the Chiefs' first couple possessions. If Mahomes has had a flaw this year, it's that he's come out very overheated in big games. The Colts WILL hang 35+ on the Chiefs, so you really can't afford to have empty possessions early.
I think the Oakland game did show something that the Chiefs better than many think on that side of the ball. 12th against the pass according to DVOA. 32nd against the run. If KC gets a lead early, and Indy has to become one-dimensional by not being able to run the ball like they want, the game could be a 17-20 point game in a hurry.

Colts are hot.
Our defense sucks.
I think our offense is certainly more suited to take apart that Colts defense.
That said, I don't think you can win in the playoffs without a defense, whether it's this game or the next.

Ah, but you can if you score a touchdown on every drive!

Errrr, Goff put up like a billion yards against us.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 2:23 pmAgreed on that front for the most part. But I also do think they found something with Ward at CB. Luck > Goff.
We have played better recently on defense at home though.

Goff has better weapons compared to Luck. You just have to stop a banged up TY and Ebron to give you a good shot.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 2:32 pmErrrr, Goff put up like a billion yards against us.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 2:23 pmAgreed on that front for the most part. And yet KC wins that game if the Rams don't have 2 defensive TDs or Mahomes has 5 TOs total. Don't think 2 defensive TDs happens very often, and don't think Mahomes will have 5 TOs in a game for a while.
Held Gurley to 55 yards.

Re: NFL 2018
In all the playoff losses to the Colts, Indy always had the better QB. I think that is now reversed. And I think that plays a big factor.
I'm not going to lie and say I'm not worried about Indy because I am, I just think the Chiefs offense will be much better than Indy's offense and the defense will get a stop when it needs one.

Re: NFL 2018
We tried that against Indy once. That didn't work. Although, I think we punted once that game.
Defense. Rebounds.

"...the defense will get a stop when it needs one."
Therein lies the rub.
Therein lies the rub.
Re: NFL 2018
I thought we didn't punt but Priest fumbled and that was the difference.
Something along those lines though.
Re: NFL 2018
did the old rams have much of a defense when the were “the greatest show on turf”?
Re: NFL 2018
Good question Trad! Not easy to answer. I would have to go with yes and no.

I still think the Chiefs are more comparable to the Falcons from a few years ago. Great offense. Defense was blah but could get after the QB a bit.

I like the Chiefs to win by 10 to 17.
But..... last night proves you really never know what's going to happen.

Kliff to the Cards. They have a first round QB and now an offensive minded HC.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 12:31 pm I'd hire Kliff Kingsbury 11 times out of 10 before Hue Jackson.
It might not work but it's taking a shot.
If I were the Browns, I would have told Baker to suck it up b/c we're hiring Kliff.

Also, if Kingsbury has any success at all, he's an immediate candidate to replace Andy Reid if/when that transition occurs.

Re: NFL 2018
He's at least making the Cards interesting. Which is good considering they were so bad and so boring last year. He gives Rosen an immediate coach to help him on a daily basis. Kliff knows how to coach QBs. At one point in the QB room at Tech, Kliff had Webb, Mahomes and Mayfield. Pretty good.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 4:26 pmKliff to the Cards. Now he just needs to find a DC who knows what he is doing.

I suppose there are crazier coaching success stories than going from getting fired by a third (?) tier college team to being a good NFL head coach the very next year.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 4:26 pmKliff to the Cards. But I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
