I’m sure I’m not the only one who has been actively avoiding using FB for about 15 months now. Started as a “soft boycott” because I just didn’t get around to logging in. Then it became “how long can I hold out”. Now I just hate them.

And, perhaps it’s worth mentioning this is the first quarter after Facebook’s big Meta announcement.
It’s almost like consumers don’t want Zuck controlling their entire online everything.
But don’t they know billionaires always know best for everyone!

Re: Facebook, Google, et al
Earnings reports came out the other day. They are spending a shit ton of money.
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
Qus, you know a lot of people have made a lot of money from Facebook, including many people who didn't grow up with money. Do you just hate when anyone makes money? Or is it all just bad because it has created some billionaires?
Screw all the people it has helped, right? Influencers, small businesses that didn't have funds or knowledge to create their own websites, people selling shit on the platform, etc... and beyond that.
Also, your insinuation that companies competing with others by trying to do the same thing but better is, just, I don't know, strange? How on Earth is it a bad thing?
E.g. writing web applications was hard. So Google made Angular to help with that. Facebook saw that and decided to one-up them with React - and gave it away for free (not that Angular isn't). Now it's taught to tens of thousands of folks in coding boot camps who want to make a good career but don't want to be saddled with debt. But damn Facebook because someone is getting rich!

Yeah man that’s what Qusdahl is saying!
Facebook still has tremendous potential to make shitloads of money!
So why aren’t the markets treating it like that??
Zuck only ever wanted to get poked, not get bitch slapped by some invisible hand!

See, that’s why Zuck and Mjl and Qus all realize that the markets don’t: it’s overwhelmingly just about the money.
Markets shouldn’t care about silly little things like a bad rep or years of negative press. Or that maybe markets may be simply choosing other products and services. Who says markets should be free to do that??
Surely, the markets will come back around. I mean, what isn’t better when monetized?? Zuck’s business model can even be applied to other industries too!
Just remember to read the 50-paragraph terms and conditions first.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
That's a great idea! The data is de-personalized, so nothing negative for users of the hotline. The proceeds help fund a service that literally saves lives. Customer service becomes better for everyone.Qusdahl wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 7:51 am See, that’s why Zuck and Mjl and Qus all realize that the markets don’t: it’s overwhelmingly just about the money.

What kind of heartless asshole would be against that? It makes you feel icky so screw everyone helped by it?
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
Oh God, reading the comments, I need to quit Twitter. Are people stupid or heartless? Everyone would rather have people not get help than have people make money off people getting helped. Pure evil. Well, unintentional evil. If that's possible.
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
I haven't read the tweeters but I think the "for profit" sets some people off.
