Conference realignment is here again and the NCAA is never going to be the same after this round. KU can't afford another false start on this. But I believe is what Travis Goff was hired to do.

Think the department is in the best shape it’s been in a long time. This is the time to do it.

Still recovering money wise from covid, though.

Very true. Mostly was talking about from a leadership position. Money is going to be the big talking point, and for good reason.

Yes, I should have implied better that I agree with that part.

The only "fix" for the football stadium is a complete tear down and rebuild. Is there really a commitment to this? Any sort of remodel is just postponing the inevitable.

Money is a big deal but it sounds like Goff was very careful in doing his diligence here. It sounds like he zeroed in on the plan he liked, found out how much it was going to cost, then got done promises to cover at least a large part of it.

We are talking a sturdy concrete shell with massive internal rework I think. Some elements of the old preserved. Given its historic character, probably a great idea to work within the framework.

They’ll do it right. KU Athletics has done all of the facility stuff right.

I think at one point there was a notion that the current pressboxes are fine and can be saved. That’s fine with me if it fits within the overall plan. Just speeds up when we can play a game in it.

You said the same thing about Charlie Weis before his conference championship run here.

Goff sent out a recent letter to donors. Mentioned a transform of Memorial and a potential renovation to AFH.

And Mike Vernon is popping off with some of his thoughts and "hearings" He said the openness of the south end seems to maintain being a priority. Good chance they won't touch the bottom levels of each sideline stands, but will do things with the newer structures like the 2nd levels on both sides and the north bowl and potentially some additional makeover work on the south end zone seating.

Why do the 4 stars that go to KU flop and then go to an FCS school? Is it that shitty of luck or just shitty development?

Dom Williams, Steven Parker, Velton Gardner, Marquel Combs, Corionne Harris among others.

That's a good question. I was listening to a podcast last week that was talking about recruiting and one of the guys on there said basically there are two types of 4-star recruits. Those that were a stone's throw away from being a 5-star and are motivated to work hard and prove themselves and then those that were 4-stars because they were essentially big fish in a small pond and now that they're uncomfortable being challenged for their position on the team. Seems like, at least with the way Beaty and others recruited, KU was more likely to land the second type because they assumed they would be big man on campus by being a highly-rated recruit on a bad football team.

Spring practice starts Monday the 28th. It will be spread across all of March with a week-long break for spring break. Spring game is April 9.

Spring practice started yesterday. Looked like a really full team out there, which is something we haven't seen in a long time in spring ball.

Excited to see what the transfers do.

Brief rundown:
QB - Daniels and Bean are the top 2. And a good top 2 to have. Only 4 on roster, 1 is a walk-on.
RB - Neal, Thomas, Morrison, Hishaw are going to get a lot of carries.
WR - Wilson, Grimm, Arnold, McBride and Golightly expected to be contributors. One of the weakest position rooms on the team.
TE - A really good group with Fairchild, Kardell, Casey, Huggins and a good JUCO transfer in Noa.
OL - Bostick, Reed-Adams, Novitsky, Ford Jr and Cabeldue are the top 5 expected starters. Some good depth there.
DL - Lots of super-seniors. DeBose, Eddie Wilson, Jelani Arnold, Sam Burt and Ronald McGee all super-seniors. Kyron Johnson a big hole at DE, but felt like unit performed pretty well last year.
LB - Brought in 2 transfers that will start. Eriq Gilyard from UCF at MLB and Craig Young from Ohio State at a hybrid LB/S. Potter, Rich Miller and Cornell Wheeler also should get plenty of run.
CB - This room needs one or two spring transfers to make me feel better about it. But Jacobee Bryant, Deuce Mayberry and Cam'Ron Dabney are 3 really good corners. Again, a smaller room, need some transfers.
S - Kenny Logan, O.J. Burroughs and Jayson Gilliom are the 3 guys there.

ST will have to improve. I'm sure they will with better depth.
