I honestly don't think this is a race issue although it affects a large number of African Americans because of where it is happening. It's just a power issue where a Police Chief has decided to use his police force to raise money for the city whether it is done legally or not. I would bet anything that if my white self drove my car with a Nebraska tag on it through their little town for a few days that I'd most likely end up with a ticket for some sort of moving violation.

I'd have to spend thousands of dollars on legal fees to fight the ticket if I felt it was unjust and it would most likely have to be heard by a court in that area, where the police chief is more than likely "in favor".

Brookside Alabama is 75% white. They have approximately 300 black people that live in that town. They are ticketing indiscriminately regardless of race (and possibly whether a violation has occurred or not).

Even worse is the comments by our MICH here, which show that some people simply blindly believe that a law enforcement officer would never break the law or utilize it for nefarious means and that arrests and citations only occur when people break laws/rules. At least you saw a trial as a juror. Last time I had jury duty I had to sit in a room for 7 hours (3 hours, an hour lunch break, and then another 4 hours) without being allowed to use my phone - and I never got called.
Time before that at least they let me leave right after I got back from the lunch break.
