to continue the theme (sorry, pdub):

pubs think the league does too much for black players
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

just heard an interesting take on the radio:

the NFL: celebrating all the rhythm of Black culture, but none of the blues

NFL 2021 Award Winners

MVP: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers
Offensive player of year: Cooper Kupp, WR, Rams
Defensive player of year: T.J. Watt, LB, Steelers
Offensive rookie of year: Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Bengals
Defensive rookie of year: Micah Parsons, LB, Cowboys
Coach of year: Mike Vrabel, Titans
Comeback player of year: Joe Burrow, QB, Bengals
Walter Payton man of year: Andrew Whitworth, OT, Rams

All seem pretty fair - though I think Tom Brady had a pretty good argument to win as he had more yards ( 1000+ more yards ) and TDs. He did have quite a few more picks though.

Pats fans will be griping about rookie of the year up here but Jamar Chase has already established himself as a top 10 WR in the league.

Burrow went from a lost rookie season due to a torn ACL to leading his team to it's first Super Bowl appearance in 33 years.

Yeah, Brady has more yards, tds and vaccine shots. Definitely should have won over Karen Rodgers.

Yes, I understand the awards are given for the regular season but.....
As I stated/asked a more than a week ago, what odds could I have gotten when the playoffs started that neither Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes, nor Allen would NOT play in the 2022 Super Bowl. As "valuable" as those guys were during the regular season - they just weren't "valuable" enough during the playoffs.

Rodgers was great this season. The Packers may have been .500 or below without him but.......
How do you determine he was more VALUABLE to the Packers than any other QB was to/for his successful team?

That's not the standard for the award, though.

I think all awards in all sports should be voted on after the postseason.

Mahomes was the MVP. His lack of focus pretty much torpedoed the best team in football. Most distracted player.

Imagine if he played well for 60 minutes against Cinci. The second half was so bad it seemed intentionally inept. That first interception was like throwing a game bad. Inexplicable. His value was incredible until it wasn't. Never saw a better QB the week before. Joe the plumber after halftime.

He had a lot of turnovers.
Hes a fantastic player.
He had his worst year since he got the starting gig.

Defenses haven't "figured him out" but they have learned to mitigate his nuke zone.

I hope you are right. But I have never seen anything like that second half loss of confidence and talent. Outside of baseball. He made some incredibly precise passes that had me building him a statue. Then he tanked. He refused to run for first downs. The NFL does not confidence inspire with their $100,000 bonus per losses. I do think a hard look following Flores' allegations needs to take place.

I have no idea what happened.
I will listen to all Sparko conspiracies regarding that second half shift.

I'm not sure what that has to do with him not winning MVP.

If you think the MVP should go to:

A) The Most Valuable Player to the NFL from a business and brand aspect

or

B) The flat out best player in the league

Then you can make the argument that the MVP is Mahomes. Pretty much every year for the next 10 or so.

Of course, you can have a different criteria for the NFL MVP Award

Most people would probably feel that Mahomes was neither a nor b this season.

I entered a $100 square pool. Winner (final score) take all.
Numbers were drawn this morning.
I have Bengals 9 Rams 2.
Too bad this isn't 2004.

I guess I’m inclined to handwave away the ten or whatever tipped ball picks he threw this year. It was certainly an adjustment year to defenses realizing there’s no profit in pressuring him.

Nothing about this year changes the long term outlook, in my view anyway.

Three serious questions - that I could easily answer for you - but would still like for you to respond to.
1. Do you really believe Mahomes was both a & b this season?
2. Do you feel you are a better person by repeatedly putting me (and others) down on a public forum?
3. What is your obsessive need to ridicule someone who is "psychotic"?
