The crew we're playing now has less of a chance of an early exit or upset to a VCU/UNI.

But they also have less of a chance of beating a Kentucky or Duke. Or, say, a crappy-but-athletic team like VaTech or Oregon.

we are likely to take an L before the FF regardless of whether we win the league or not.

might as well add some hardware along the way.

can you imagine the conversation between HCBS and the freshmen when he tells them they are not going to play to win because the social medias whackjobs think that's best in the long run.

I recall Sherron Collins OT contested and one against a top ranked ksu in manhattan that season.
A beat down @ Temple in Philly.
And being ranked number 1 for a good stretch of it.

Sorry ( hasbeen ) that you've only watched one good Kansas season.
You must be a joy to be around.

I mean, maybe a smaller school specifically.

But this team is plenty capable of loosing to an 8/9 seed type of team. Which is want UNI was.

I mean we saw that when we almost lost to OU at home...they're a bubble team.
I only came to kick some ass...

Same.
I was hoping he'd get spot minutes and then some more @ WVU.
I think fans in general vastly overestimate the impact of spot minutes.

This is not a team built to win in the 50's or even 60's.

The good thing is, pushing the ball in transition seems less susceptible than relying on outside shooting.

Meaning, test out the knee in game action.
Don't want to go completely cold into the NCAA tournament, especially not at point.

The best thing about Sherron's and one, the beat down in Philly, and being ranked #1 for much of the season is how it foreshadowed our long run in the tourney that year.

I thought about going into that with you with our strength of schedule, our 2 loss all season record and our top 5 adjO and adjD going into the tourney but you're gonna come up with some stupid bullshit "i knew it was gonna happen" that never actually happened, so keep up with the 'foreshadowed' narrative.

This team is fully capable of losing a Round of 32 game. They will likely be about a #2 seed which puts them playing the winner of a 7-10 game in the Round of 32.

And if they get to the point where they are playing a team like Duke or Kentucky then they have advanced to the Elite Eight. If this team makes the Elite Eight I will be happy.

For me:
Pissed - L in First Round
Bummed - L in Round of 32
Expected - L in Sweet Sixteen
Happy - L in Elite Eight
Thrilled - Win in Elite Eight

I am a firm believer that Bill Self's coaching ability usually gets KU an extra 1 or 2 seed lines compared to the team's ability. He and his staff have been scouting the Big 12 for nearly 2 decades and do better vs. the Big 12 than a team of their talent level typically would. Once they get to the tourney and have no history against the teams then are playing then I think it comes down more to player ability and this team has some serious holes in it.

I think we will sneak in as the last 1 seed actually.
I think it'll take us going 5-1 to finish the regular season and win our 1st B12 tourney game.
Or 4-2 with a B12 tourney title.

I just dont see any different between game action vs practice when it comes to something like this. Reps are reps from a physical standpoint. A joint can either hold up to x pounds of pressure or it can't.

yes.

I'm more worried about matchups than I am seed or overall quality of the team we play.

Which is almost a bummer to me as I don't think Kansas is even remotely one of the four best teams in the country this year. It just makes it more of an "upset" when they lose.

I didn't know it was going to happen. It was a gut punch.

In 2022, I know it happened and it makes me less interested in reliving the Philly smackdown over a decade later. Do you talk about the time we beat Temple at dinner parties? Real winner there.

This isn't quite true because there's a different game speed in real games than practice.
It's why you'll get more major injuries per minute in actual games.

This is peak KU/Roy fan: I don't want a 1-seed because I don't want to choke again.
