Of course Bronny will be on the same NBA team as his dad for at least a season.

If I was the kid I wouldn't like it. I'd want to make the league on my own merit. As long as LeBron says these things the assumption will be he got his kid the job. It's nepotism 101. And everyone is gonna think that whether it's true or not.

I mean, it'd be cool to play in the NBA with your dad...but I'd want it to happen the way it did with the Griffey's and not the way it worked with Xavier and CJ Henry.
I only came to kick some ass...

Maybe it has more to do with trying to get franchises to draft a 4 star recruit who is not even necessarily on 2024 draft boreds?

I dunno.
Not tampering per se, but yes it’s contrary to the spirit of things to have a team incentivized to light a first round pick on fire in order to appeal to LeBron.

Story of his career as GM Bron, though.

Getting Brinny on an NBA roster is probably doable. Either a 2nd round pick or as an undrafted FA. Maybe a late 1st if a team is desperate enough for the marketing bump they would get with LeBron. No one is wasting a lotto pick on this kid.

However, the real mess is going to be when LeBron starts demanding that Bronny actually plays significant minutes. That shit show is going to epic.
I disagree with you. No reason to think LeBron won't still be a lower-tier-All-Star-type player by then, and of course he offers 41 sellouts (as you mention).

If you're a decent team that has someone else's lottery pick, why wouldn't you punch the LeBron ticket? In last year's draft...the Raptors drafted #4, the Warriors #7 and #14. Bronny would have been a defensible pick in any of those slots for those teams, even assuming you're getting a somewhat-diminished Bron.

It's not contrary to the spirit of things to say you want to play with your son.

He can't "make" anyone sign him or draft Bronny.
It's not nearly this black and white. GM Bron knows exactly what he's doing, which is influencing the entire structure of the league without actually lifting a finger. He's an expert at it, possibly the best we've ever seen in American pro sports.

It's also what earns him lots of derision.

It's actually quite selfish in this situation. Putting a first-round tag on an undeserving and unready kid's head is a good way to send him on the short track out of the league.

Are you sure? LeBron demanding that Bronny plays for Klay or Steph seems like a real fucking disaster to me.

Lol, watch bron convince some GM he’ll play too if they sign his kid, then the kid never gets called up from the G league anyway.

Only takes one team to determine that the juice is worth the squeeze.

There's no question in my mind Bronny will go first round (should things play out like we expect), and there is no ceiling on how high in the first round (entirely dependent on who has what pick(s)).

Well I think a franchise would be pretty foolish to mortgage its future for a season or 2 of LeBron in his 40's.

So, I don't know where that ceiling is, but maybe somewhere around pick 5.

He put a "1st round tag" on him? His kid is a top 40 recruit. Does LeBron control the recruiting rankings also?

Some of you are totally incapable of being unbiased when it comes to LeBron.

All he said was his last year will be played wherever his son plays. Assuming his son plays basketball, and assuming whichever team drafts his son agrees to sign LeBron. He can't force anyone to do anything they don't want to do.

I don't think Bronny is even the worst basketball player that LeBron has forced onto a team.

Who is saying LeBron is forcing anyone to do anything? That's a straw man.

What is absolutely happening is that LeBron is (likely massively) increasing Bronny's draft stock by attaching his services (and everything that goes with them) to a team's use of a draft pick on Bronny.

Right, wrong, somewhere in between, it is what it is: manipulative.

And, again, what's new.

If you think about it, GM LeBron has made dumber moves than throwing away a single first round draft pick. Teams recover from that all the time.

Right? Wouldn't LeBron be in his 39-40 aged season when Bronny is a rookie? You're essentially giving up 2-3 years (and probably a fired head coach) to get whatever marketing bonus you get out of an old LeBron. The product on the court will be awful.

How many other GMs have gone to 8 straight NBA finals?

So is he a good GM or bad GM? You guys flip flop so much when it comes to LeBron.
