Wiggins averaged 16.9 ppg his first season and won rookie of the year.

Fanboys at the time were still optimistic he might play himself into the goat thread.

Wiggs would have been better than JR Smith.
They coulda still signed Love the year following.
He got the title so what can you say?

But it's like arguing the Chiefs could have still won a title with LJ Collier, Dee Ford and a high priced free agent cornerback.

with the goat title comes the goat scrutiny

Lebron went "only" 1 of 4 his second stint in Cleveland. Yea he got the title, but can you say he coulda got more yet? maybe with a better roster composition?

or maybe the Dubs were just too good. 4 straight years of GS vs Cleveland. Did we ever get a single matchup with both teams healthy? That whole run was defined as much as anything by injuries.

LeBron teams don't build for the future by waiting around years and years for players to develop. Each season is a quest to win a title. It's worked out a decent % of the time for him.
It’s obviously worked great for him. And the NBA is certainly a league/sport that is about players, not teams. It would just be exhausting, to me, to be a LeBron fan.

It'd be exhausting to be a die hard NBA fan for any team tbh. Players leaving constantly. Teams tanking. I love the NBA, but not really tied to any team. Mostly cheer for jayhawks. My kid loves Embiid so we indentify as 76er fans at the moment.

KD is equally as exhausting imo. Kawhi. Kyrie. Russ. Harden. Etc. Etc.

The only mega superstars that aren't occasionally exhausting that come to mind are Steph Giannis and Embiid. Edit: Ja Morant is super likeable too now that i think about it.

Being a LeBron fan must feel like marrying up but your wife cheats on you every once in a while. But she’s not discreet so all your friends and family know about it.

That'd be like being a fan of a team LeBron is on, sort of.

Being a LeBron fan must feel like...being a Tiger fan in his prime I guess, but if Tiger only played in tournaments that fit his game?

Yeah, that's a good point. My analogy does fit better with being a fan of LeBron's team.

Christ. Of course the analogy isn't perfect, because it's apples to oranges.

LeBron is a fucking front-runner, who has gleefully lit his "home town" franchise (and its fans!) on fire twice to chase sunnier opportunities.

Again, I get it and might do the exact same. But he's a sneaker-wearing embodiment of that asshole we all know with a closet full of Duke, Lakers, Cowboys and Yankees gear.

He's the GOAT, but he's also that guy.

LeBron's current stats are actually better than his career averages, up and down the bored.
But let's assume father time kicks in a bit, 2.5 years from now, when Bronny is eligible to be drafted.
So 2024 ends with LeBron on the Lakers, and he ends up with averages 24 PPG, 7 APG, 6 RPG on 49% FG.

Let's also say Bronny plays well enough to be one of those guys you might consider drafting at the very end of the 2nd, a fringe kind of pick.

What pick would you use on Bronny to get 2 years of LeBron in the twilight of his career knowing he still could put up numbers around like those above?

If I had all the other pieces in place? 1-1.

Not as bad but sometimes it's a bit rough discussing his teams.

I actually thought something like that too.
You're very very unlikely gonna get a 24, 7, 6 guy from the draft, at least not right off the bat.

I can't agree with this. I think the ceiling is around pick 5 overall. League is pretty balanced, for the moment, at least. I'm not passing up a Ja Morant or even an Evan Mobley.
