I mean look at the income tax brackets...the biggest jump is from 12% to 22%... it's like as soon as you go from mediocre job to good career you get the biggest hit. Talk about deincentivizing...why not make it more gradual, even if that means adding another higher bracket or two.

Yeah, he's definitely oversimplifying.

But I don't think the dichotomy is effectively all that false with the increased polarization that we're seeing. Or maybe the loud voices are all just a vocal minority.

I mean, policy-wise it's false, yeah. But without ranked-choice voting I'm not sure how realistic reasonable middle-ground policies will be going forward.

If you’re disincentivized to earn more because you have to pay a higher marginal rate, from 12 to 22%, you don’t deserve the extra money and the higher standard of life that comes with it. Not to mention too stupid to have that extra money - I can’t think of any person of average intelligence who would turn down earning an extra net 78 cents as opposed to nothing.

That's a common argument used for not increasing taxes for the top 0.1%.

But an idiot like you wanting to increase the taxes for someone making 70k to protect billionaires...sounds about right.

It's all those rich truck drivers and physical therapists who aren't paying their fair share. Let's continue to run this country off the backs of dental hygienists and people who own landscaping companies....fuck them and the 78 cents on the dollar their making over the fast food employees....they're the real problem....with their fancy $200,000 homes....they don't need that. Raise their fucking taxes, right?

Wtf?!

As long as bezos can have another 0 income tax year....amirite? Fuck the middle class.

I thought this shit was a cop out and defeatist.

But then I'm reminded that one side, represented by zsn, actually does want to tax the shit out of everyone until we're all equally poor. And the other side wants all the wealth controlled by an increasingly tiny few, so long as milk and gas don't go up in price.

We really may be fucked.

Where did I say any of that? I’m for increasing the marginal rates for the higher end much higher. I am opposed to the entire Trump tax cuts because it disproportionately and adversely affected the lower income folks especially those living in states with income and property taxes. I’m for having smaller increments between brackets and higher brackets. I think it’s also very regressive to have the Social Security deductions as they currently stand.

But if it fits your narrative by all means go ahead.

What's the point of that?

Is it a misunderstanding of why Russian oligarchs are being sanctioned?

So the story line here is that Douglas County CO, the county that brought you the Mother's Day mask free-for-all at C&C Coffee a couple of years ago, wants to build more houses and lawns and extent the suburban sprawl of Denver. But they need water, and have to go through hearings to get it and that is kind of a drag. But there is a place not far away that has water so they figured they would just go get it from there, no biggie.

So when the Douglas County Commissioners held an open house in Castle Rock to tell the locals about the idea, they got lots of positive feedback and it was all about how nice it will be to have more water once we take it away from them other folks.

But when the Douglas County Commissioners head out west to tell everyone in the San Luis Valley about how great it was going to be to have their water shipped to the Front Range, those hicks got all hostile and were going to protest. How dare they not celebrate their water getting shipped out of the valley?
So some of the Douglas County Commissioners decided they weren't going to talk to those people until they could be more constructive in their discussion about taking their water.

Imagine that, Castle Rock Karen is asking nicely; "Give us your water that is the lifeblood of your agricultural economy and ship it to the other side of the mountain so we can build more new houses and outlet malls?"

And in response they got, "FUCK YOU!"

Well I never!

These rural folks are just not as polite as the suburban folks in Castle Rock who want to preserve their personal freedoms and make money while destroying the livelihood of farming communities.

My favorite comment from a Douglas County Commissioner,

Douglas County Commissioner George Teal said he wants to visit the proposed wellfield that Renewable Water Resources has identified on the northern end of Valley and near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and neighboring Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Teal likened supporters of Renewable Water Resources to the fighters of democracy in Ukraine.

“They feel like, quite frankly I think it’s appropriate, we were just talking about Russia and Ukraine, because they feel like they are being silenced, they feel like they are being intimidated, and if they were to express their actual opinions, they would have consequences.”

Yes, he went there. Douglas County is just like Ukraine in fighting for their freedom to take water rights, and getting intimidated by the farmer putins in Saguache County who want to keep their water. I mean you have to squint like tucker to see it that way, but he makes a great point.

I don't know George and haven't really heard anything about him until now. But just the same; FUCK YOU George and the stupid lame ass comparison you rode in on!

well, on the bright side just be glad that you don’t have a massive terminal body of water that, as it dries and lakebeds are exposed, is expelling toxic dust clouds across your county (or at least i hope you don’t)

SLC is looking to get killed off, literally, in order to ensure development and economic growth up north
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Propoganda? Here's some.

We need water and you need money, let's make a deal. We can call it "buy and dry" maybe?

We will give you $50M! - Wow, that is a LOT of moolah!

And you won't even notice the water we are taking out, it's like the amount you spill on the ground every time you fill your dog's water bowl. No big deal. - So money for nothing, I like the sound of that!

And your aquifer is completely renewable! - OK, but then why has the water commission been rationing water for 20 years during the recent decades long drought?

Taking water from your aquifer will, "resolve our water issues once and for all!" - So it's like a "final solution"? That's awesome!

Isn’t CO a “senior water rights” state? As in, someone already made a claim to pretty much every drop of water in the state. (Do I get to share my Fraser River Denver local story again?!)

How is the coffee Karens gonna get around the but mah rights rurals?

Or is it some water that somehow went unclaimed since the concept of “property” was introduced in this land?

The mah rights suburban coffee Karens are running up against rural folks who care less about money and more about community. This is making it tough for the almost Ukranian level oppressed trumpublicans in Douglas County to buy them out.
