but I think that's a critical piece of context. I think what's freaking some of you guys out is, I view this clusterfuck as having blame to go around, rather than just taking a side.

A critical piece of context for what?

All it shows is that no free country wants to tie their economic and political fortunes and future to Russia. They all want to be on the more stable and more democratic team. Pretty fuckin simple.

putin's message is "So I'm a sociopathic murderous reptilian brain thug who will kill members of my own team to keep everyone else in line, and yet know one wants join my team?"

"Play on my team or I will kill you and all your family members" is a recruiting message that only works for so long. Some of those kids he was threatening to kill if the parents didn't vote for him, just died in Ukraine.

One of the lessons the Russians should have learned in Afghanistan is that a foe who has nothing to lose is the most dangerous. As the Russian economy crumbles, the proletariats there will soon have nothing to lose.

If you zoom far enough out on the timeline, you can find a reason to support "both sides" of virtually any argument. Stop wasting your mental effort to assign the appropriate percentage of blame to the appropriate persons or group.
