I'm starting to wonder, are the trumpublicans watching what is going on in Russia/Ukraine and thinking, "holy shit, what if trump was president again?" Some buyer's remorse is starting to show on the faces of the grown ups in the party.
The true believers actually buy the bullshit that this didn't happen while Trump was in office because Putin was scared of Trump.

Rubes will be rubes. They will follow him around wiping his ass every times he takes a shit on them until he dies and then they will want to build a memorial to him. I have been watching it play out in a person I know for several years now. The issue is if he ever admits what a fool he has been, his life for the last several years has no meaning or purpose. He won't admit that. He would rather die pretend and screaming the rest of are fools rather than admit the obvious and move on. I have noticed that his children interact with him less these days. It will all come to head when his grandkids get old enough to understand all of this shit. If he lives that long they will have some hard questions for him and it will push him over the edge.

I've been wrong too many times to have much confidence, but: maybe this is finally what breaks the fever in a critical mass.

A trumper close to me has a completely different tone on this than he's had on anything remotely political/newsy in the last six years. Hopefully that is a common occurrence.

Yeah my trumper friend has been very quiet about Ukraine. Something is different. He pushed one meme early on facebook about how putin was making a fool of Biden, and then it went quiet once shit really started hitting the fan and after fucker Carlson changed his tune. This cheering for the Russians thing has created an internal struggle for them. This cheering for the strong man was all fun and games until it dawned on them that nuclear war would end their retirement plans and kill their grandkids. Armageddon sounds noble and righteous until you start imagining what will happen to your grandkids in that scenario.

If it does pass; it should only take another 20-30 years for this bullshit to raise it's ugly head again, so don't get too comfortable.

It's also the case that anti-Russkie animus might be one of the few things that can unseat anti-other among trumpers...

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

How dumb.

How did nobody notice that big of a concentration in the investment statements? Although I guess if the entire retirement fund has $500MM+ in it then it's not as bad as the headline made me feel intially.

Side note: is there any chance the Russian economy and stocks like that can rebound (somewhat) over time?

Will they change CEOs? If Putin is still in office it would be a tough sell to convince me that the basis for the stock value has stability.

It’s bizarre that this has suddenly become priority #1 for the GOP. Women’s rights up there alongside it as well…

Just to be clear, the party who refused vaccines because they don't want the government to tell them what to put in their bodies. Are now the party supporting government control of what people put in their bodies.

got it.

The whole personal freedoms thing used to be an appealing part of the republican party. The give me liberty or give me death way of thinking. Then you find out that's just a facade and something they only pretend to believe when there's something they just don't want to do. As long as it's something they don't agree with, their political philosophy goes out the window.

They should say, we don't want the government interfering in peoples lives as long as people live the way we want them to.

What a crock of shit.

My wife does therapy for kids and families like that. It is heartbreaking stuff to hear about.

It is such a tough situation for a parent. Do you think you'd let your 11 or 12yr old start taking hormones or having surgeries? I honestly have no idea how parents make those decisions.
