Re: 2022 CBB Season
My guess is the NCAA asked teams for their preference a while ago so maybe at the time Duke still had a shot at a 1 seed but at the time this story is coming out, that chance is all but gone.

I believe all teams have to submit their desired locations.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:26 am My guess is the NCAA asked teams for their preference a while ago so maybe at the time Duke still had a shot at a 1 seed but at the time this story is coming out, that chance is all but gone.

I will get back on my soapbox for one of my pet issues: the Selection Show should be a draft. All 34 First Four/Round of 64 slots (including region/site/seeds) are up for the picking, in descending S-curve order.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:14 am Clueless me didn't realize Duke still has a slim chance to be a 1 seed.
I'm assuming K might rather be a 2 in Chicago than a 1 elsewhere.
Would be the biggest non-game-action event in American sports, besides the NFL Draft. Tons of hype/drama/eyeballs/intrigue. Sets the table for a massive opening weekend of the tournament.
Everyone wins.

Who is doing the drafting though? Unless you had 4 different, independent groups actually choosing for the 4 regions, wouldn't it all essentially shake out the same anyway?jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 9:01 amI will get back on my soapbox for one of my pet issues: the Selection Show should be a draft. Mark Few is first up. He selects the #1 seed in the West Regional, and the Portland (OR) first weekend site.
Tommy Lloyd (Arizona, had to look this one up) is next. He selects the #1 seed in the South Regional, and also the Portland (OR) first weekend site.
Next is Scott Drew. Being an idiot, he selects the #2 seed in the South regional, and the Fort Worth first weekend site.
Bill Self follows. Not being an idiot, he selects the #1 seed in the Midwest regional, and the Forth Worth first weekend site.
And so on.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
I wouldn't want it beyond the 1 and 2 seeds--I don't like the idea of teams picking 2nd round or even Sweet 16 matchups.
The reality is that this kind of already happens for the top seeds, it's just not televised. Sure, why not televise it?

Re: 2022 CBB Season
You're no fun. At least have it be the 1-4 lines (which I'm pretty sure you need in order to distribute teams among the first weekend sites).

Re: 2022 CBB Season
I think you'd have to limit it somehow in the interest of time. Remember the year they tried to spread the whole bracket reveal over two hours by releasing one region every 30 minutes or so? Some insider leaked it online after about 20 minutes of that nonsense and everyone hated it.

True, 1-4 is needed for first weekend sites.
There just seems such an advantage for a 3-4 to be able to pick their sweet 16 matchup. I would rather be able to pick that as a 1 seed rather than getting our choice between Chicago or San Antonio.

To which I say: meh! The tournament is a damn crap shoot anyway, horribly inefficient at identifying the best team. The interest this would drive would be an enormous net positive.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:56 am True, 1-4 is needed for first weekend sites.

Who's on the list to replace him? I'd guess Grant McCasland at North Texas and Chris Jans at New Mexico State.

I completely understand, even agree, why the AD and Bruce would logistically set it up this way.
But that should not change what actually happened. He was effectively fired in his last two jobs before what looks like a retirement.

Some tater fans wanted to fire bruce because they think they can make a run at Pitino, lol.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:25 am Who's on the list to replace him? I'd guess Grant McCasland at North Texas and Chris Jans at New Mexico State.

I have heard Pitino as an option at Maryland after a couple of their top choices (Andy Enfield at USC and Steve Forbes at Wake Forest) just signed extensions.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:27 amSome tater fans wanted to fire bruce because they think they can make a run at Pitino, lol.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:25 am Who's on the list to replace him? Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: 2022 CBB Season
Rick Pitino would rather kill himself than live in Manhattan, KS.
Maybe they could get him drunk and leave out the KS part?
