His ball handling, rebounding and defense are badly needed for this team.

I'd have Grimes ahead of him as well.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:49 am I'd say 4th. Dedric. Dotson. Vick. MG.
MG is doing well...but we've got several more losses without Vick.

If we didn't have MG we'd just have to find a way to play 2 bigs more or give KJ more time.
Lose dedric and we're in big trouble.
Lose Dotson and we're in big trouble.
Lose Vick and we've got nearly no reliable scoring output from our backcourt.

Re: Ochai Agbaji
Garrett is atrocious offensively, there's no reason to deny it. And, it does create spacing issue. Garrett has one good offensive skill which is driving to the basket, but that is taken away because the defense can sag, which takes away even more from our offense given that it starts with Dedric on the block or Devon creating in the lane.
That said, even I can't deny the good things that Garrett does that no one else on the team seems to do. All of these, though, are on the defensive side of the ball save for his amazing offensive rebound against TCU.
We're playing Marcus Garrett because we have to. A Romeo Langford-type would be a way bigger asset for this team.

You're welcome PhD. Have a nice weekend.
I'm taking the afternoon off to go golf because we've got snow on the way and no golf is likely for a week or 2....
so 30 degrees and cloudy will have to be good enough to get it done today. LOL going to be cold!

Vick has 5 games with 2 or less FGs.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:51 am

I'm glad you said type, because the last thing this team needs to add is a 20% 3 pt shooter.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:53 am A Romeo Langford-type would be a way bigger asset for this team.

I think that's an improvement on Garrett. Yikes.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:57 amI'm glad you said type, because the last thing this team needs to add is a 20% 3 pt shooter.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:53 am A Romeo Langford-type would be a way bigger asset for this team.
Re: Ochai Agbaji
I'm not trying to be cute, but Grimes is probably the MOST important player on our roster. Because if he was 75% of what he was supposed to be, Garrett would be irrelevant.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:49 am I'd say 4th. Dedric. Dotson. Vick. MG.

Ouch. You're right. Reliable is (and has always been) a bad description of Vick.Soklous wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:56 amVick has 5 games with 2 or less FGs.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:51 am

Re: Ochai Agbaji
Reliably unreliable?
Re: Ochai Agbaji
Grimes has 7 games with 2 or fewer FGs.
And Garrett has 5 games where he's shot more than 2 field goals.
I'm not gonna even look up Charlie.
And Dotson isn't going to score 32 points.
Vick is not reliable but he is more reliable than any other option than Dotson at this point AND is obvious that he has a higher ceiling in terms of pure shooting/scoring - which is what this team is lacking.

MG can sub #1-#5 with ease. Position-less and one-size-fits-all subbing...

He's a versatile defender.
He's not a versatile scorer, facilitator, slasher.

Correct. But minutes factor in too. Vick leads the team with 34 mpg. Almost 10 minutes more than Grimes.
When putting up less than 2 FGs, Vick has 30mpg.
When putting up less than 2 FGs, Grimes has 15mpg.
They all need to be better, but that is clearly not equal play.

Well Grimes is shooting 42% and 29% from 3.
Vick is shooting 47% and 43% from 3.
