Hampered Selby, too, but that was another guy that was never the same after losing explosiveness. In hindsight, we think the 2011 team was a lot better than it was because of how much the tournament opened up for them and the huge crash and burn.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:02 amI did this somewhat recently with different games but same year and it was a TERRIBLE offense. Basically it was "Twins, do your thing and the rest will get figured out."CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 9:07 am I think if Remy plays all season, then this team's top ceiling would give them a chance against 2011, 2016, 2017. Those teams weren't just loaded with pros in the rotation, either.
I recently watched a lot of the Richmond/VCU 2011 games, and while I loved Marcus, my gosh was that an outdated offense. Congestion, standing around, high-low ball. It's no wonder Tyrel's 3pt% took a dip that season.

I wouldn't put them at the top of a list of Self era teams, but it's not like the tourney opened up for a 3 seed. They were still a 1 seed with a 32-2 record.
2011 was just a bad year for college hoops, and looking at the draft that year I think backs that up.
Highest seed to make the Final Four was a 3, joined by a 4, 8, and 11.

My comment was more directed toward CB, with which you agree. And yea Och has been much better about “shot hunting” and continuing to look to score, and our team’s better because of it. He has the accolades to prove it too.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 9:39 amWe would be/have been better if CB was more aggressive on the shot takes. His percentages were way too high for most of the season for the shot attempts, and would pass up open looks. Remy's emergence fixes some of that in the halfcourt.
I have no issue with Och's approach to his offensive game this year. Ous needs to drop the August 2021 narratives after Och goes 19 PPG, consensus AA, NPOY finalist, and projected lottery pick.
On a team that’s otherwise been prone to scoring droughts, CB doing the same could have and still could help. Not to mention it would only help his prospects as an NBA point guard too!
But that may be moot now if Remy gonna Remy.

Not true.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:06 am ...we think the 2011 team was a lot better than it was because of how much the tournament opened up for them and the huge crash and burn.
We went 32-2 in the regular season, finished 35-3.
And we beat the shit out of teams.
We were 1st in the nation in FG%, 8th in the nation in PPG.
We won by a margin of just under 15 points per game.
We had the same adjO as we do now. And the 6th adjD.

Re: March Madness 2022
I recall being about the 3rd or 4th favorite or so in Vegas entering the tourney with tOSU being an overwhelming favorite overall. They lost a day or 2 before VCU game. Then Duke fell.
And maybe it was being a little jaded comparing the team to the 2008 and 2010 teams. Either way, the backcourt got torched, which was a little bit of a theme the rest of that decade.

This is probably true.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:06 am, we think the 2011 team was a lot better than it was because of how much the tournament opened up for them and the huge crash and burn.
Reed 28.7 mpg (1st)
Face Ass 27.6 mpg (3rd)
That's not ideal.
Re: March Madness 2022
Yet, still, were 8th in scoring in the country.
And it was because of our bigs.*
That might be why some people don't think we were legit.
*( 4 NBA players - 13th pick, 14th pick, 3rd pick, 39th pick )
2011 NCAA title odds:
Ohio St. Buckeyes 7/2
Duke Blue Devils 9/2
Kansas Jayhawks 5/1
We were 12/1 to open this tourney.

Re: March Madness 2022
this might be the worst i’ve ever done on brackets. totally got jobbed after the 1st round
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: March Madness 2022
its a weird year....I'm in last place in my pool BUT, I have the most possible points and could still win handily. Odd. all my hopes rely on Kansas and UCLAKUTradition wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 5:01 pm this might be the worst i’ve ever done on brackets. totally got jobbed after the 1st round
