Government Shut-Down Thread
Re: Government Shut-Down Thread
There you have it! Someone said a poorly worded sentence to a liberal media outlet!
Who. Cares.
Who. Cares.
Re: Government Shut-Down Thread
Just another scumbag. You know it. You’re living it.

So, when is Putin going to reopen the government ?

So, you dislike people who have any left leaning beliefs?IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 13, 2019 7:43 amLOL.
I've said a million times I don't like trump.
But that's how the left works. Don't agree with them, then you're a scumbag.
....and that's partly why we have trump.

JFC plano. (Must be bored and want to argue about anything/everything today?)jeepinjayhawk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 13, 2019 9:29 amSo, you dislike people who have any left leaning beliefs?IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 13, 2019 7:43 amLOL.

No, not at all. I have several left leaning beliefs.
I should have said "many on the left..."....I'm sure you'll jump in the next time someone generalizes about the "right"/GOP. *eye roll*....
Re: Government Shut-Down Thread
You claiming someone wants to argue about anything/everything is an instant classic.
Your denial can only lead me to believe that you simply like to kick the bed for the reactions alone then.

"Most drugs are smuggled into the United States onboard fishing boats, trains, tractor-trailers and ordinary cars that come into the country at legal ports of entry, according to former cartel members who've testified in the trial of notorious cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.
Some cartel members have testified about using underground tunnels. But none have said they've transported drugs into the United States at unwalled sections of the border."
NONE.

Re: Government Shut-Down Thread
Well that solves it! No need for ANY barriers in ANY locations.
Whew. Glad we got that straightened out.
We all have seen the stats that most drugs come thru ports of entry....but using El Chapo as some sort of evidence that it never happens seems a bit silly.....they're moving amounts that can't be carried by hand...regardless, the drugs stopped by a wall would be insignificant, I agree with that.
I saw something on the news the other night that something like 60-75% of drugs that come into the country law enforcement knows about and aren't allowed to stop for various reasons.

Re: Government Shut-Down Thread
Yeah, a back pack full of drugs, that should arrive at its destination in about a month or two doesn't exactly scream efficiency.

CNN’s Jim Acosta asked residents of McAllen, Texas, if they felt threatened on the border. They said they didn’t. He delivered his report standing beside a steel slat border fence in McAllen, proving Trump’s point.
San Diego’s border fence works.

Better border fences and walls in more populated areas forced smugglers to go to the Arizona border. Ranchers along Arizona’s border do feel very threatened. (Link also includes story of a woman park maintenance worker who was beaten nearly to death with a rock by a previously deported, convicted felon in a park on the border.)

According to the Justice Department, the Sinaloa drug cartel is smuggling drugs across the border into Arizona.

This rancher placed trail cameras on his property and captured 360 photos of smugglers last year.

This link has the story of one family that thought it was their Christian duty to help illegal immigrants. The father of the family went out one night to give assistance, and was shot to death.

People in New Mexico don’t feel safe, either.
https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/i ... f-illegals
Ranchers in the above links report their houses broken into, vehicles stolen, property damaged. They certainly don’t feel as safe as people in McAllen and San Diego.
The requested $5.7 billion is 0.11% of the budget.

Re: Government Shut-Down Thread
Screw your facts, El Chapo's cartel doesn't carry their drugs over the border so we don't need any barriers.

Oh, I totally agree with the fact that El Chapo's cartel didn't carry drugs across the border at areas without fences.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Sun Jan 13, 2019 3:33 pmnice to see only the “facts” you agree with matterIllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 13, 2019 3:15 pm Screw your facts, El Chapo's cartel doesn't carry their drugs over the border so we don't need any barriers.
I'll remember your statement above for next time you or others do the exact same thing.
Facts are facts. I agree with facts because they're facts.

Re: Government Shut-Down Thread
Lots of good stuff in there.
What especially caught my eye was that many immigrants are eligible for green cards, but can't change their status from within the United States and face lengthy times for reentry if they go "home" to apply correctly.
It shouldn't be easier for those who come here illegally to gain permanent status...but it also shouldn't be so hard for people who have expired status to change that status from within the country if they've been model citizens. That's creating an incentive for them to stay "illegally" because of the difficulties associated with changing that status.
This seems like something that most reasonable people would agree upon. It's not favoring people who come here illegally as far as a path to more permanent status (jumping the line so to speak), but also not punishing people who have been here legally and need to renew/update their status.
