There was an article that mentioned he might return next year. I kind of doubt it, but would be interesting if he pulled a Brady. K is 75 years old, which makes you think he can't go on much longer.

He doesn't look like he's in great health. Noticable limp lately.

I doubt he'd do that to Scheyer. He probably has considered retiring for a few years. I don't think it was a rushed decision.

I do think there's a chance he wants to be extremely involved still. I know there are rules about who can coach and spend time "officially" working with players, but Duke operates in the gray area as much as anyone....so if he wants to help coach practices or sit in on film sessions I am sure he will.

That last part. His ego was on full display for the last month. It was bigger than I really grasped.

He'll be one of the commentators for ESPN in very short order, but that won't scratch his itch for long

Think he's maybe the assistant SID. The guy who handles all of his media obligations and tells him where he needs to be at what time and leads him there.
