Noticed devonte isnt even the first guard off the bench for the pelicans tonight. That rookie jose alvarado has been cutting into his minutes more and more.
I don't feel too sorry for devonte since he signed a 4 year/47 million deal with the pelicans. but he was a starter before the CJ mccollum trade, moved to the bench, and now his bench role is decreasing. trending in the wrong direction

Defense is his problem. With CJ Ingram and JoVal, his scoring isn't as needed.
And it's a bad matchup against CP3, but Alvarado has maybe passed him on the depth chart it seems like.
I am guessing there will be teams looking to trade for him in the offseason.

alvarado is a nice little guard. lightning quick, tenacious defender, and a good passer.
the pelicans basically upgraded devonte to CJ mccollum, and alvarado is a better complimentary/role player.
