That's also what I was thinking as a possibility.

It's within the realm of possibility that the NCAA and Self/KU could come to a joint agreement.

IF that were to happen, the lawyers and parties would know if settlement was imminent.
That would shock me. Self and his lawyers have put out the "I will fight any suspension" vibe since the beginning of this. But maybe the IARP is putting out a reasonable enough punishment that they are considering it, I don't know.

I don't know what is going on, but I do think that there are many scenarios where a one-year postseason ban is a deal that they might want to take and run with.

There is almost no precedent here and the IARP authority is very broad. At some point fighting for months or years in federal court over a 2-year show cause might be worse punishment than just taking a short suspension and getting it over with now that it keeps dragging out.

Of course, the official line is that there is no such thing as a negotiated settlement once something is with the IARP.

Mmhmm.

And the 2 players in my actual real life example are the equivalent of Lightfoot and Teahan. Not even the stars of the team, those guys cost more I would imagine.

Of course the market is different at each school and for different level of players.

How much do you think the KU guys got paid to work at Raisin' Canes the other day? My guess is a lot more than any of the actual employees made that day.

There is good money in NIL.
rumor is $15k each for Jalen and Braun for that work

If Bill could sacrifice himself for a tournament or a season to save the 2018 Final Four banner, it woudl be admirable, but I also think he should do it.

Bill is the best coach we've had here, but he's still not bigger than the KANSAS program.

given the choice, i would select a ban for HCBS. a year. whatever they want.

a post season ban for the team is my worst case scenario.

what did osu do to get the 1 year post season ban?

CB was paid $15,000.00 by a fast food restaurant to do what? and for how long did he do it?

Had one of the coaches that actually did jail time.

Compared to NCAA's smoking gun of "we good?".

Oklahoma State case is worse in that one of their coaches directly took bribes. But that was not IARP.

The only FBI-related case that has been adjudicated through IARP is NC State: no postseason ban but vacated wins where Dennis Smith played and show cause orders for the head coach and an assistant.

Yes. The NC State case was worse than ours, too.

And, KT texts are not even a smoking gun.

i can live with that.

i fully expect to vacate wins. i fully expect big penalties for the coaching staff.

i'll take that deal right now.

Fuck that.

Taking the Final Four banner down and dealing with a show cause for Self is way worse than Self just sitting for a season.

I see what you did here.
