We need Martin to be nothing more than some depth at the position in case something goes wrong with the 3 bigs ahead of him in the rotation in Adams, Clemence and Udeh. Who know, Ejiofor may even be ahead of him; we won't have an idea about that until the guys get together and start playing this summer and word starts leaking out about how guys are looking against each other.
Agreed, I'd rather get Udeh the minutes.

I think realistic best case scenario with Cam is hitting some 3's in the non-con and being the guy that the student section thinks should get more minutes.

Fine. But you have to admit that this lack of progression is disappointing. It’s not for lack of opportunity or poor environment.

I think phd is right, he lacks fire.
He would flash physicality on drives and rebounds then quit on other plays. Watched him pretty carefully this year.
It feels more like he is just looking for an easier way to be better. You can either work hard to improve against the same, tougher opponents or you can compete against lesser opponents. His first transfer was to get more opportunities against the same, tougher opponents. Since that didn't result in an improvement, looks like he is choosing to change the caliber of opponent. Plus, the assistant coach he really liked at ISU is now the head coach at Cleveland State.

Agreed. If we need him to be a contributor at even close to what Mitch was this year then I think we're in trouble because multiple bigs either left or got injured.

Cam is going to be an interesting player to watch next season. If he can get his shot off, be a C+/B- defender and shoot ~45% from 3, he will get some clock.

I think I worry the most that he’s an F defender.

I think F defender is highly unlikely after spending as much time at KU with Self and Co. Sitting last season had to have been a huge benefit to the massive adjustment he was/is going to have to make due to the step up in competition.

Kendric Davis announces his destination tonight at 8pm CT. I would love it if it was Kansas but with no announcement from Braun on his intentions, I'd be surprised if it was. The only issue is that he is even shorter than Harris and doesn't have Harris' freakish wing span.

I don't disagree with anything you said, but you could also be describing Clemence. And in the event there isn't separation between Cam and Clemence, Clemence should get the clock.

I'm team Clemence.
I think hes already a much better player than D2 Cam.

Our 5 will be very interesting.
When was the last time we didn't know who our 5 would be?

I think it Cam were anywhere close to Clemence that he wouldn’t have shirted.

Or maybe Cam was told neither he or Clemence would be able to beat out Mitch for any type of meaningful minutes this year.

Or he maybe wanted just wanted an extra year at KU with his smokeshow softball player GF and hanging out in Lawrence w/ front row seats to KU home games.

2 years at KU is better than 1.

I also don't think they play the same position. Cam a 4. Zach a 5.

We don't?
Is there anyone here that thinks it won't be Clemence?

Could it be Cam?

If CB and JW both leave I think Clemence could get some time at the 4, no?

I don't think he can switch on the perimeter well enough to play the 4 (although Cam may not be able to either). That's KJs spot next year if no JW.

i was pleasantly surprised with what i saw in ZC’s limited minutes

most impressive to me was that he didn’t shy away from the moment/s
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Yep.

But would love to be surprised.

Just like the difference between a guard and wing for Self is ball-handling ability (the reason Cuffe, despite height, is more of a wing) - the difference between a wing and a big is the ability to switch screens. And I don't think Clemence can do that based in what we've seen so far.

Maybe I am too biased towards KJ because of his defense late in the season, but if no JW I expect KJ to play 30+ mpg at the 4 (assuming he can stay out of foul trouble to consume those types of minutes).

Could also see MJ Rice getting some run at the 4 with a lineup that looks like DH Yes Dick Rice Clemence when KJ is out.

Rice is such an unknown. I am also a little hesitant to predict Wiggins type production out of Dick. He was HS POY but is still ranked in the mid 20s.

I really have no idea what to expect from the freshman, but feel very comfortable with a core of DH Yes Bobby KJ and Clemence all returning and all with some experience. We can mix and match around that, and still could end up with CB and/or JW, which would elevate us to immediate title contenders again.

And conversely I think KJ can guard all 5 spots on switches. Which is such a luxury to have in late shot clock/game clock situations.
