He's pure and untainted.

What on earth will college basketball do without him?

Genuinely one of the funniest posts I've ever seen on this site.

Mich is hoping that Roy comes back now that he's "retired" from UNC.

I would if that was our best option.

Ya know, if say Jacque Vaughn and Brady Morningstar turned it down 1st. 😉

Would need more info.

There are worse short term contingency plans.

But the hypothetical is pretty absurd.

Depends if the need is transitional, or keeping the seat warm for Bill.

Transitional, maybe. There are better or worse options than Roy.

Keeping the seat warm? I would rather have Norm Roberts by a long shot. Maybe Larry Brown. Maybe Alvin Gentry. Or Calipari if UK does something really stupid. Keeping it in the family tree would be critical IMO.

I guess, yes, in some world where Bill had to sit out a year, and Roi wanted to come back to coach that single season, alright.

But I can't see a scenario where Bill was done for good and Roi took the reins that I would like.
If we hired Calipari, i'd stop watching Kansas.

If they would do something to where Kurtis Townsend gets fired, Aaron Miles takes his spot and is the interim coach with Norm on staff to mentor while Bill is suspended, I would be intrigued. That's almost HCiW stuff.

In the suspension context, Vegas is closed. It’s Norm.

We will eventually get to the HCiW stuff. We may already be in it with Case (or Brady 😉) even though it could be 10+yrs away.

I think Aaron Miles will be an NBA head coach before Bill retires.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... always-had

Wright said the current climate of college basketball, which now includes the transfer portal and name, image and likeness licensing deals, played a small role in his decision. But the changes also made him see that Villanova needed a fresh voice as the school moves forward.

"I think those changes are eventually going to be really good for college basketball," Wright said. "I'm so impressed with how we handled NIL as a team. Some of our guys made really good money. And they had 3.8 GPAs and they went to a Final Four. But there is a side of it where ... [Neptune and our younger assistants] are at another level than me when it comes to that stuff. They're really visionary about it. And I feel like I'm the coach that's trying to keep up with it. That impacted us where we felt like this is a good time."

I no longer think he's going to the NBA after reading his comments.

I am not sure he will be a full time TV guy either. May just be ready to be retired.

That reads as if the changes weren't for him and hes smart enough to avoid saying something that would get the "it was basically slavery" crowd riled up.

His comments read to me that he’s choosing to walk away rather than have to figure out a completely new way to work at this stage of his life and career.

He's older than Bill...
