Rotation has been a known issue and is definitely the weak link for the 2022 team. It’s early, you hope a couple of guys get better as the season progresses and that guys in the minors continue to develop. I’ve thought all along that if the Royals are around .500 at the deadline so get they will trade for a starting pitcher.

It's just frustrating because they absolutely shouldn't need to do that!

But outside of Greinke, Keller and a somewhat inconsistent Hernandez, it's pretty rough. All-in-all, Lynch wasn't terrible. Just threw about 2 really bad pitches, including that hanging slider on that 3 run shot.

But Bubic has to be a lot better. But man, Kowar just isn't it. At all.
The Kowar thing is mystifying. You don't often find weapons-grade AAAA guys like that. And I don't think he's doomed to that future. But my god, something needs to change.

The Royals miss Minor. Good game yesterday--but it is the hitting that is missing. Pratto and Melendez would be helpful. But Dozier and Salvy are actually hitting.

Royals fans, are you excited for KC to be the next team to get a NIKE City Connect uniform?

Didn't get a sweep, but they're hanging right around that 500 without their bats doing much of anything.

Merrifield is batting .136. Santana is .069. Witt Jr is .146. Mondesi is .135.

Those bats will wake up eventually.

Witt had two hits last night and is okay. Matheny not so much. Brought in Staumont to face a bunch of lefties in the 7th. Weirdly brought in Brentz to face righties in the 8th. Gave the game away.

Matheny today: tying run at third one out crucial point in the 7th. Benny or Ohearn could have pinch hit against RH hitter. Let's leave Taylor in. Couldn't even get a bunt down. The worst situational manager I have ever seen.

Needs to pray harder. Jeebus. Just doesn't pinch hit. RH RH RH against RH setup guy. Why do the Royals throw breaking pitches up in the count? Seriously. Every time. Seattle jumping on it over and over. Tell. Extra innings on a solo shot. But game should have been over 4-3.

And lose in 12. Royals 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position.

Rebound win with 11 walks. And. Predictably. An injured Mondi.

Torn ACL for Mondesi. What bad luck that kid has had. It's unfortunately time to pull the plug on his time in KC. Put Witt at SS and let him go to work.

Good damnit that sucks for Mondesi and KC. Huge dent in the season even if it’s not unexpected.

This is a good time for Pratto though. I think it opens the door for a call-up. Whit to second. Witt Jr to SS.
