WRs are the most over-hyped commodity. I think the Chiefs find someone overlooked. The great thing? Lots of quality at other positions

Trade up for a corner, eh?
He graded well and the Bills went out and got a CB soon after but you wonder if we coulda got him at 29.

Give up 29, 94 and 121…

We will have to look at how Booth does in the next couple years…bc you coulda had Booth and kept your 3rd and 4th.

Or had JJ and Booth.
JJ more threatening.
Booth a bit bigger than McDuffie.

Good pass rush pick, it seems?

He was graded lower than we got him but definitely both spots of need. You like his story. You just wonder if JJ would have been better.

Pats trade down and get a guy who woulda been there in the late 2nd or even 3rd.

Concerned with McDuffie's size and K's speed and agility. Would have gone other ways.

Like who? They clearly got the 3rd best CB in the draft at 21 when he was projected in the teens and they got an EDGE with a high motor who has played football for like 6 years.

They got an A for the first night.

PFF had McDuffie and Karlaftis at 10 and 11 on their big board and Chiefs got them at 21 and 30. That’s a deal.

Were they though? Fish's math. They were hyped beyond their tools IMHO. Teams are afraid of their fan reaction. Except NE. Both of the Chiefs picks seemed safe but under sized. They do better looking at athletes in later rounds. Seeing big receivers reach over Flowers and Ward over the years is a concern. And the BiG wasn't exactly a great conference to judge a smallish wingspan. Hope the Chiefs did deep looks at both. They were available.

Scorching-hot, original, proprietary take here: I'm good with McDuffie and Karlaftis. I do not like what the Chiefs gave up to get from 29 to 21. By 21, you knew that the board was going to be good at 29/30.

I know you can't carry 12 rookies, but those picks could have been put to better use (particularly in adding a second or something next year).

I wish the Chiefs had at only lost one pick from that trade up and to sweeten the deal, maybe try to swap spots.

i.e. give them the 29th, the 50th, the 94th and the 121st for
the 21st, 54th and 127th.

So retain the 4th round pick but just drop a few spots lower with your 2nd and 4th.

I think they were in a bidding war. They had to do what they had to do. I think Green Bay, Buffalo and Baltimore were all interested.

They went from something like 8 picks in first 135 to 6. And from 12 total picks to 10 total picks. Not horrible. Still getting 2 1s, 2 2s, and a 3rd and a 4th on top of fillers with the 4 7th round picks are fine. They're going to use some or all of those 7s for a spot higher up though, I think.

I'd still rather balance moving up this year with getting more next year. The need for starters on rookie contracts isn't going away. You're just orders of magnitude more likely to find those guys in Rounds 3-4 than Rounds 5-7.

Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes have the strongest arms in the NFL.
If I'm a speedster receiver, i'd prefer one of those QB's than Rodgers.
