you know, in the animal kingdom, if one chimpanzee starts hoarding resources from the rest of the community, the other chimps organize to beat up the hoarder.

but save that shit for the animal kingdom, cuz we humans would rather glorify the hoarding.

I guess cuz we're more intelligent, and civilized, and lulz.
Exactly, the top 17% are hoarding! The bottom 83% is just asking for five bucks, and they won't even give that!
where are you getting these numbers? Just making them up?

Either way, I'd encourage you to read up on the metrics of inequality and distribution of wealth.
$6 billion / $5 = 1.2 billion people needing to donate $5 to reach your $6 billion to solve world hunger.
1.2 billion people / 7 billion people in the world=.1714

So, top 17.14% of people donating $5 gives you your $6 billion. Just $5, just the top 17%.

I blame the food crises on Ousdahl.

Teach a man to fish and all that.....

donate your time to teach the world to fish....problem solved yea?

ok, that’s funny
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

but is TDub actually suggesting I'm to blame, or just saying "what if?"

asking for illy.

for real though, if I could donate my time to teach the world to fish for the sake of solving world hunger, or simply chip in my $5 if that's the plan, I'd gladly do so. But I dunno about the rest of you guys.

I won't disagree.

but whether you meant it as a stark illustration of inequality or not, it's kinda crazy that a $5 dollar donation from 1.2 billion people still amounts to only like 2% of Elon's individual fortune.

put together an actual achievable plan accounting for each cent spent and demonstrating how that solves long term world hunger and I'm in.

but why should I have to do that, when I could just quietly donate to an undisclosed charity of my choosing instead?

if only I had the same pull as a guy like Elon.

things would be a lot different.

jk LOL no it wouldn't be! I'd use all those resources to build spaceships and tease Bezos about how he's #2.

you dont have to be a billionaire to put the plan together.

you do the groundwork and get a billionaire to provide the pocketbook. Thats how it works 95% of the time.

Get started. Or, continue to complain that nobody is doing anything....while also doing nothing.

Start small, put a plan together on how much you need to solve hunger in your county. How you're going to achieve it, and the necessary infrastructure and funding it will require to be a long term solution.

Expand on that once its successful.

If you take all of his money and distribute it to everyone in the world, everyone gets 37 bucks. That doesn't do shit.

yeah, I did the groundwork and gave my plan to a billionaire. He never responded. Sigh.

(actually, I remember tweeting at Elon when this whole twitter drama went down, and he actually tweeted back...but whatever he said, I remember not being impressed.)

fwiw I contribute to the "mountain family center" up here, which is a food pantry for the community. They're all like "ous we appreciate it but we need non-perishable canned goods and you keep bringing all these fresh smoked meats" and I'm like "oh sorry, should I bring like canned goods from now on" and they're like "at the very least stop putting cheese on the brisket!" I digress...

I also used to volunteer at that soup kitchen in Lawrence, making breakfast for the bums. To be fair though, it was largely cuz a chick put me up to it, duh. To be even morer fairer though, she wasn't even a hippie babe, she was actually a Catholic babe...yet it's surprising what little difference there is.

you'd be surprised, bro.

$37 bucks would be an awful lot of "not yer mamma's salsa" at the Sunset Grill in Alcova, WY.

and free from any of that pesky gummint regulation, too! No, that's not salmonella, in these parts we just call it "freedom"
