It's nothing earth-shattering because it's a KU production, hosted by Wayne Simien. But the newest episode is an interview with Micah Brown. He talks a little bit about putting the series together and the differences sees between Leipold and crew having an actual plan versus the last few hires. He does admit though he has a soft spot for Turner Gill because his dad was a teammate of Gill's at Nebraska. Although that opened the door for Brown to come back to KU to produce projects like that. Anyone remember that first series they did with Gill?
I think that was the best series Kansas has done. Well done. Pretty cheesy in grand scheme of things because Gill was cheesy but it was well done. Gridiron I think was the name..?

I think that was the name of it. He talked about having this idea to do Hard Knocks for a college team and said he brought it to KU, now tons of schools have stuff like this.

They were definitely ahead of their time in that regard.

Update, it's really good.

Didn't feel like bumping an older thread, but Philadelphia drafted Kyron Johnson with the 2nd pick in the 6th round (#181 overall).

Good for him.

Was so hoping he would be a Chief. But great for him. Opposing teams started focusing on him last year for a reason. Disruptive defender.

Interesting statement I saw going around her Kyron was drafted: played 650+ snaps in his KU career and never once committed a penalty.

I guess I'll put this update here until the project may deserve it's own topic, but here we go.

KU has submitted its Fiscal Year 2024 capital improvements request and 5-year play to the KS Board of Regents. It includes a two-phase plan for Memorial Stadium for an estimated total of $350 million. Perhaps the biggest thing there is an estimated $208 million of that is slated for the current fiscal year. So there's a chance there is an announcement on the way and this thing is getting underway much sooner than later. The full breakdown of the $350 million estimate looks like this:

- $12 million listed as "prior years"
- $208 million listed for fiscal year 2023
- $30 million listed for fiscal year 2024
- $100 million listed for fiscal year 2025

What does $350M do for a stadium?

That's hard to say. Could you completely gut Memorial, leaving the current exterior as a facade, and rebuild for $350 million? That seems to be the plan most people preferred when KU reached out to big money donors for feedback.

But it was also rumored that KU had multiple plans laid out that they were very happy with where they would be able to choose which one best matched the amount of money they'd be able to raise via capital gains/private donations. This report at least makes it seem like they've nailed down the amount of money they'll be able to get, have at least estimated the cost, and are preparing to kick this thing off.

And dominated Texas and OU OTs as well as dominating some of the top end OL at the Senior Bowl in Mobile. He's going to surprise some folks. The best part about him is he wraps up the QB AND goes for the ball. Not one or the other. He had about 5 strip sacks this year.

Seems like it's going to be a renovate. Which is probably wise. I think it has a good foundation right now. Would imagine west side gets worked on right after the season ends as that is the TV side and the most important view of the stadium for folks who watch on TV.

He's got as good a shot to play 6-8 years in the league as much as anyone we've had recently. His speed and reliable tackling is going to make him an immediate asset on special teams. A lot of projects this weekend have him as an inside or weakside linebacker. I'm sure the Eagles have done their homework and have a plan to use him to get after QBs.

You're probably right. I know we've been down this road before with the renderings released by Zenger but this feels so much different. Rather than release a plan and then try to raise money, Goff was out collecting donations while multiple plans were drawn up to make sure we had something viable to fit the amount of money he could secure. Goff impresses me more and more every day. Also, the fact that $208 million is on the schedule to be spent in the current fiscal year makes this feel different than the other times ADs tried to go down this path.

Speaking of 6-8 years in the league, good to see that Dorance Armstrong reupped with the Cowboys a month or so ago. 2 years at $12M total. Scheduled career earnings after this most recent contract plays out would be almost $16M. Good for him. Still only 25 years old. Nice rotation piece at DE.

That's awesome, I'm glad to see Dorance succeeding (outside of playing for the Cowboys lol). Him and Daniel Wise were absolute monsters on the d-line for some terrible, terrible football teams. They deserved so much better.

3 star recruit. Redshirted 2020 and then played in a few games in 2021.

Good pickup.
