KCrim Donations
Re: KCrim Donations
I mean, if we are being serious, I don’t care about the donations, but I got enough to pay for the hosting costs for four years, two of which had already been paid, which I appreciate, but it’s not a large sum of money. I’m not paying out of pocket currently.
I have certainly put much more in free hours ( 100? ) to the site than I have paid ( 0 hours ).
The ads are there to make a point about free labor and the value of something you enjoy that you thought unique changing to being primarily about money and whether or not that could possibly disrupt your experience.

i’m not mad about anything
it’s silly to me that 1) he doesn’t enforce his own rules, and 2) he makes up new rules on the fly as it suits his mood
but, you do you…stalker
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: KCrim Donations
What rules don't get enforced?
What rules get made up on the fly? Unless you mean me and doyel randomly getting 24hr bans for posts/threads he didn't like during various games.

doyle's timeout was one hour.

He deserved it more than I did. My posts were just misunderstood. But water under the bridge.
Re: KCrim Donations
That's funny. Bill Self and Nick Saban aren't getting the NCAA to change anything. And the Supreme Court already struck down caps on NIL in NCAA vs. Alston. That was the beginning of this whole mess.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 12:53 pm The good news, since I think we all agree that right now it is out of hand, is that when guys like Bill Self and Nick Saban are coming out and saying this isn't working how it is supposed to, it means change will come.
I don't think "caps" on $$ will be possible because the courts will strike it down when it gets challenged as overreaching again...but they will absolutely have to figure out how to enforce the "pay for play" rules. And i think those situations will be fairly easy to identify. Some of the players or "agencies" are coming right out and saying it. When that happens those players should be deemed ineligible for college athletics.
"In its unanimous 9-0 decision in NCAA v. Alston, the Supreme Court upheld a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that struck down NCAA caps on student-athlete academic benefits (i.e. reimbursements and pay for academic-related expenses) on antitrust grounds. In so doing, the Court cut against a century-old “no-pay for play” college sports regime, but did so with a scalpel rather than a meat cleaver. Still, the Alston decision—and its sharply worded concurring opinion—conclusively propels the NCAA into a new reality, where the status quo of NCAA-mandated restrictions on student-athlete compensation will be no more. With the NCAA’s Division I Council recently adopting an interim policy that would suspend its amateurism rules related to student-athlete name, image and likeness (“NIL”) monetization, this “new reality” is indisputably here."

Re: KCrim Donations
Bill Self and Nick Saban have complained about numerous things in regards to the ncaa. Name ONE that was changed as a result.
Saban complained aggressively about transfer rules in 2018.

Doesn't seem like the ncaa listened to him.
Re: KCrim Donations
Saban complained about taking heat for SEC transfer rules because he wouldn't sign waivers for his players to play at conference schools. Nothing to do with NCAA. Nothing to do with changing rules. He was saying if the other SEC coaches don't like his policy that they should vote to change the rules. Not bitch about him not allowing his players to freely transfer to in conference opponents.
Not even remotely the same situations.
If the schools/programs benefiting most from NIL free agency are saying "this isn't working as intended" then I imagine the vast majority of coaches agree. And if enough people agree then it's in the NCAA best interests to adjust.
We can agree to disagree that guys like Self and Saban have pull. I think they have tremendous influence over their sports.

Re: KCrim Donations
Pdub, I think there's a glitch in the website. This (accurate for now anyway) is on every single post on the board as I see it. It's been getting worse over time. Thought you'd want to know about this apparent vulnerability.
Re: KCrim Donations
shouldn't fundamentally change your enjoyment of the site though. Pdub somehow has to keep elite posters like myself from jumping sites. Looking to negotiate a lucrative deal from my superb posts and thoughts, can't expect him to front that out of pocket yea? Needs some site boosters to lure prospective talent.
plus if it keeps posters here longer its a boon for the quality of the site.

I am sorry, I shouldn't laugh. I like JFish and CnB.
But have to admit, PDub will always have an advantage when it comes to messageboard disputes due to his admin powers.

With posts like that, he's the Tshiebwe.

Worse over time?
That's weird of you to think that.
Seems like it's gotten better and if it hasn't, that's a you problem.
The content is still the same. You can still read and post. I don't see the difference.
I think what the issue ACTUALLY IS is that you don't like pdub getting paid.
I know it's not especially comfortable, but our country has a nasty history with labor exploitation, particularly of vulnerable/desperate groups.

I'd like to announce that, thanks to these banners,, I'm now going to be coming back to defend my P(oster)OTY title.
