Chiefs 2021
Re: Chiefs 2021
I've never heard of the corner we just took, but that was also true of Sneed and Fenton (and Ward, via trade), so I'm good.
Re: Chiefs 2021
6’3” CB out of Fayetteville St in the 4th Round. Joshua Williams. Looks like a great flyer pick to me.
Re: Chiefs 2021
Loving this draft.
Just traded up in the 5th to get a Guard that has some pretty good reviews.

Re: Chiefs 2021
The Chiefs are so great in mid rounds. Love the picks. And there is still FA money.
Re: Chiefs 2021
I think we did very well here.
Questions will be JJ and Booth v GKarl and McDuff. Our safety over Dean. And Skyy over Pickens.

Re: Chiefs 2021
Plus the move for Mcduff freaking Pat's we gave up some players
Re: Chiefs 2021
We got one back with our move down for Skyy though.
( we clearly preferred skyy over Pickens )

Re: Chiefs 2021
So Veach has attacked every hole in this roster.
Guys, this was his most important draft so far and he nailed it.

Re: Chiefs 2021
Obviously there is a lot more to being good at football than height and weight but I like that KC went big.
6-3 Corner
6-2 Corner
6-1 Safety
6-4, 266 Defensive End
6-3, 250 Inside LB
6-5, 322 Guard

Re: Chiefs 2021
My dad and I were talking about that earlier. They may not all work out, but they are NFL sized players with room to develop.
Re: Chiefs 2021
I thought our number one corner was 5 foot 11 at best and our number one WR is 5 foot 10.
Re: Chiefs 2021
After my bitching on Thursday about the picks based on height and reach, the Chiefs atoned for that by breaking back to form on development players. I concede they got the right guys in each round and worked on depth with physical stature and raw talent. They do this thing better than anyone else--listening to their scouts.
Re: Chiefs 2021
The Washington Post cracks me up: B+ grade with penetrating insight that clearly doesn't pay attention to football:
"Passing a on wide receiver in the opening round, following the Tyreek Hill trade, was curious. But the Chiefs rebounded by taking WR Skyy Moore in the second, replenishing the receiver corps for QB Patrick Mahomes. And their first-round choices of CB Trent McDuffie and pass rusher George Karlaftis — even while producing alarm at a time when the hole Hill left so desperately needed to be addressed — will benefit the defense considerably."
I get the impression teams liked the comfort of knowing they could drop two deep safeties on KC's offense. One of the analysts on ESPN forgot the Chiefs have Hardman. "Where is the speed?" Then he listed everyone else. Hardman will be running the deep routes and has about the same speed as Hill. Hill dropped more than a few key passes in his time too. Passing up wide receivers clearly did not happen to any team in the NFL. I have never seen so many taken that fast. KC had no chance for the hyped guys. Clearly the Adams crazy payday had spooked a lot of GMs. KC got the guy they needed with high character--in short supply with receivers.

Re: Chiefs 2021
Did they let a fan write that "analysis"?
Seems like the Chiefs got good value at positions of need throughout their draft. If their 1st round picks are solid contributors, Skyy Moore is one of our top 4 receivers and that James Bond villain works out at RT, then it was a great draft.

Re: Chiefs 2021
Chiefs WR Core
JuJu Smith-Schuster (Pro Bowler)
Marquez Valdes-Scantling (6'4" - 4.37s 40)
Mecole Hardman (Pro Bowler - 4.33s 40)
Skyy Moore (4.41s 40)
They also signed Justyn Ross out of Clemson who was considered 1st round talent before getting injured and missing all of 2020 and most of 2021.
Josh Gordon could still turn things around. (I personally don't have a lot of faith this will happen)
Corey Coleman is a former 1st Rounder out of Baylor with 4.39 speed.
That's a pretty good core to pair with the best QB and best TE in the NFL. Running back core is fairly solid and balanced as well.

Re: Chiefs 2021
There’s definitely speed in that group.
I’m not wowed by any of them but there’s no drop off in quality like there was from Hill to Pringle/Robinson.

Re: Chiefs 2021
Exactly, still sucks that Hill is gone, but I'm so fucking glad we don't have to rely on Pringle and Robinson anymore. Those two were borderline awful.
Re: Chiefs 2021
Chiefs trade a future 7th for 2019 2nd round pick cornerback Lonnie Johnson.
