UNC and Wake have played a non-conference game 2 out of the last 3 years...so it wouldn't be unimaginable to keep the Houston game in '23.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 1:25 pm Yeah. So KUs home non-con scheduled vs Houston is going to go away. So KU has to fill a non-con game for 2023.

Re: Conference Realignment..?
Let's say that OU and UT leave early, our 2023 schedule should then be:
FCS
Illinois
Bad G5 team
Bad G5 team
Will almost definitely play:
Kansas State
Iowa State
One of BYU/Cincinnati/UCF/Houston
One of BYU/Cincinnati/UCF/Houston
Then 4 games from the remaining:
Baylor
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
TCU
West Virginia
One of BYU/Cincinnati/UCF/Houston
One of BYU/Cincinnati/UCF/Houston
That is 8 wins to boost our resume before heading off to the B1G.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Scheduling will get interesting because the Big 12 has two choices. In order to have a conference title game, the NCAA says you either have to split into divisions OR play a round robin conference schedule. No way the Big 12 plays an 11-game conference schedule, especially since we'll probably have 14 teams for a couple years unless OU and Texas can leave early. Division realignment will be next.

Yeah it's going to be divisions. kstate and Iowa State only for sure teams in our division. Would imagine it's going to be a north/south again. KU/kstate/Iowa State/Cincy, BYU, West Va in the north and TCU, Baylor, Tech, UCF, Houston and Oklahoma State in the southCrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 1:59 pm Let's say that OU and UT leave early, our 2023 schedule should then be:

If it’s that, our basketball schedule is easier in theory.
No x2 Houston, Tech or Baylor.
No x2 Houston, Tech or Baylor.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
I'd prefer we lengthen the conference season so we play everyone twice and eliminate some non con cupcakes.

Not if there are 12 or 14 teams. Especially if you are KU Hoops, you want as much autonomy over the schedule as possible. Not to mention, the fiscal aspect of scheduling to support the athletic dept.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 7:50 pm I'd prefer we lengthen the conference season so we play everyone twice and eliminate some non con cupcakes.

Hypothetically 28 conference games means you could only schedule like 2-3 non-con games. That would be bad for KU.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
I like a 14-game bb conference schedule. And an 8 game fb conference schedule. We all get burned out on some teams

Can we get rid of texas and ou already? With a pay out by them of course.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
I am excited for our new additions to the big 12.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
How soon can we get to the Big 10?
This new Big 12 is trash.

Also, I don't think the new big 12 is trash. It's still the 4th best conference.

In no way is it better than the Pac-12.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
Not even close. Much closer to #6 than #4. Huge gap between 4 and 5

Re: Conference Realignment..?
So we're going to get two season with 14 teams unless some combination of OU/Texas/the SEC/ESPN ponies up the money to get OU and Texas out early.
