Started 10 games at right tackle last year as a freshman. Another OL who was recruited to Buffalo by Leipold and Fuchs.

Early season win total over/unders are coming out.
Anyone think KU can get 3 wins? That would probably be Tennessee Tech and Duke then can we get a conference game?

I agree. Those two non-conference home games are a near-lock in the case of Tennessee Tech and extremely winnable in the case of Duke. Then the way last year ended gives me a lot of confidence they can find a conference win, maybe knock someone off at home. I know we're still a year or so away from truly raising the bar in terms of expectations of wins but I would be a little disappointed if they couldn't hit over 2.5 wins this season.
Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
I'd have us at 3.
I think we'll be better than last year.

I think we surprise everyone and win 4 or 5 games.

Not completely out of the realm of possibilities. The team that played the last 3 games of the year is a team that goes .500.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 8:53 am I think we surprise everyone and win 4 or 5 games.
Keep in mind that this staff couldn't fully develop an on-field playbook until probably end of September..? Every new coach usually gets a spring practice that accounts for 15 practices of on-field playbook install and evaluation. Leipold and staff got to that point on August 1 and had a prep for a game in exactly a month while also installing EVERYTHING.
Spring ball was massive for this group. Which is why it's not that far off to believe that a 5-7 or 4-8 record is possible.

Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
Having this time to get the playbook installed is huge. So is the way they were aggressive in the transfer portal to put together the type of roster they needed to run the stuff they want to run, especially on offense.
Obviously there are still plenty of questions on defense but it didn't take long for the offense to get the pieces in place that allows them to run the system they like. We say that offensive identity take shape in the last month of the year. By deploying multiple backs in versatile sets, this is a team that can win a couple games based on being able to run the ball effectively 40+ times per game and limit the amount of time our defense is on the field. Although there are some talented new pieces I am excited to see on the defense, Craig Young from Ohio State especially.

Put me down for 4-8 with 6-6 being possible if everything goes right.

Saw something recently that they lost zero or minimal snaps to transfers who left to other P5 schools but gained something like 3,000 snaps from incoming P5 transfers. All the guys who left went to G5 or lower level schools.
Massive.

Well that O/U wins line is probably going to change. Sounds like KU definitely isn't playing Houston this fall.

Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
Haven’t heard much on that, but heard a potential MACtion team is coming to Lawrence..? Don’t know who. But what was scheduled to be a road game in Houston is now going to be a home game against I think a team like Miami Ohio or somebody like that.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 9:55 pm Well that O/U wins line is probably going to change. Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
If the game does get switched to a MAC team, I would say 4 wins with a chance at 5. I would be happy with either. Next year hopefully 6 wins and a trip to some bowl.

Interesting opponent. They beat Minnesota last year and got whooped up by Tennessee.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 5:55 amI heard Bowling Green.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 10:14 pmHaven’t heard much on that, but heard a potential MACtion team is coming to Lawrence..? Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
Playing well on the road is the key to determining the season. It is a key difference between Leipold and his predecessors too. Keep the opponent in sight and let the game come to you. I think KU will win at least six if they keep beatable opponents from going on rolls. If they revert to pre-Leipold form and panic on the road, three wins.
OU and OSU seem pretty far from beatable, and Baylor has something weird going on every year, but Kansas should compete well in nine games at least.

Final Assessment
Kansas might still be a year or two away from being a year or two away, but the program has competent people in charge now. Leipold is the right guy for this heavy rebuild. The buy-in from all involved is encouraging. This young team will play hard but needs good fortune in terms of injuries and depth to put their best foot forward. Daniels must steadily improve and the newcomers must deliver. The objective should be the same as in Year 1: Be better, smarter and tougher in November than they are in September. But the first two home games are winnable. Pulling that off would inject real confidence into this team and potentially set up the Jayhawks to play spoiler in several Big 12 games.
