Maybe Dick beats out Yes for the 2 spot.
Dick didnt come to sit.

DH
McCullar
Dick
Wilson
KJ/Clemence
Lot of room between starting and coming to sit. The only 3 I think you can for sure list as starters are Harris, Wilson, and McCullar.

The defensive effort vs. Miami by KJ Adams leads me to believe that it will be Adams who wins that 5th starting spot
Err, he played like one minute in that game.
I stand by my statement.

I’m very much interested to see if KJ can guard the 5.

McCullar stats against KU last season:

77min played (2 games)
4 for 21 fg
0 for 7 3pt
10 pts
6 rebs
9 ast
1 stl
1 blk
5 turnovers

I am going to have to see more before I crown him 2nd best player. Especially for a guy who is a worse outside shooter than Dajuan Harris. This is Kansas.

Love his defense and versatility though. Good piece to have at our disposal.

Have to see more? Good thing he played 76 other games over the last 3 years. Not to mention he was hurt almost all of last season. Nobody is expecting him to come in and average 18 points, but I do expect his offense to improve under Self.

Who would you crown as the best player for Kansas next year? I'd be willing to bet it's a guy who's also a worse outside shooter than Dajuan Harris, so that aspect is pretty irrelevent.

Yes. And by "more" I don't mean more games. I mean more skill/ability. Kansas ain't Texas Tech.

Dude is not very good at offense. Outside shooting in particular. And we are losing a giant chunk of our scoring from last year (Och CB Dave Remy).

Not sure how you can play DH McCullar and KJ all at the same time. Not enough outside shooting for today's type of game (imo). And that's assuming JW and Gradey can be consistent threats from deep.

He played in 29 of 37 games last season. Started 26 of them.

While you're right, Kansas ain't Texas Tech, Tech has averaged a 15 Kenpom score while McCullar has been there, as opposed to Kansas's 10.3, while playing in the same conference, so the difference isn't as vast as you're implying.

Dave played all 40 games last year. I suppose that means he was healthy for all of them. If you miss almost a quarter of your team's season due to injury, I think it's safe to assume those injuries bothered him in a few of the games he played in too.

Udeh and Clemence too. + McCullar is a good rebounder.

He has never been a good outside shooter in any season he has played. Last season was actually his best outside shooting season.

He also missed a third of the season the year before....so maybe he is also someone who could be considered injury prone?

Clemence isn't a scrub on the glass either. He'll fight with anybody.

Dark horse candidate to start at center is Udeh.
He's a bit more in line with the kinda guy Self likes to play at the 5 ( wingspan baby ).

Roster is balanced and deep (247 rankings in HS)

Harris (94)
Pettiford (96)
Yesufu (--)

Wilson (53)
McCullar (194)
Adams (75)
Dick (19)
Rice (28)
Cuffe (118)

Clemence (50)
Udeh (29)
Ejiofor (50)
Martin (--)

I know caveman randy will take issue with this, but how are Yesufu, Cuffe or Martin going to get any minutes if everyone is healthy?

Yes cracked the lineup last season so it makes me believe he can do it this season too.
I just can't see him improving enough to take and hold a starting spot though.

Yes provides scoring (in theory / according to Self) which is something we desperately need. He will play. I think he will maintain his spot ahead of Pettiford. Pettiford should still play because Yes is more of an undersized 2, so I envision Pettiford for 10ish minutes a game backing up DH. Wilson will do a lot of ball handling when DH is out, and when DH is in.

Not necessarily in order of depth chart:
PGs = DH, Pettiford
2s = Yes, Gradey, McCullar
3s = JW, Gradey, Rice, McCullar
4s = JW, KJ, McCullar, maybe Rice(?)
5s = KJ Clemence Udeh

That's 10 guys.

I don't think anyone other than those listed above will play enough minutes most nights to worry about.

The question is which guys can seperate themselves?

It seemed to me like Pettiford was ahead of Yes early in the season, until he got his tummy ache. Then never really got it back before they finally shut him down. I have extremely high expectations for him as an upperclassman.
