Well we did just spend a shit ton of money arming Ukrainian citizens to defend themselves against Russia. So there's that.

i can go to the mall right now. ask 100 people. not one person will say they are acceptable.

nobody believes that. gosh you people are gullible.
Not "acceptable". It was worded as "unfortunately have to accept as part of our free society". Which fucking sucks as it is in no way something that we should just have to sit back and accept.

What was the question? How was it worded? How many people were asked? How were they chosen? Because 44% of our country thinking mass shootings are acceptable seems highly unlikely.

if you want your voice to be heard, vote.

if you want to make a difference, vote.

i am positive a pretty decent size majority of this great country are in favor of commonsense gun reform. so go vote.

People voted for Lauren Boebert over Scott Tipton and Diane Mitsch Bush. Partially because she loves her guns and owns a bar named Shooters that actually has a sign out front that all but encourages people to bring "semi automatic" weapons in to it.

Let that sink in for a while.

The Ukrainian government was handing out weapons to citizens who needed/wanted them.

at the risk of going full war thread, isn't there concern about exactly what's becoming of all those weapons?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national ... afficking/

Ukraine has historically been a notorious black market for weapons trafficking, apparently.

And, in the spirit of this thread, it's so on point for Merica to be not doing a good job of knowing what weapons end up in whose hands.

man, the Ukraine war thing is so cray.

We've got Mich agreeing with Qusdahl, and the bisexual commie babe meme pages like "the only lawmaker speaking any sense about Ukraine is Marjorie Taylor Greene"

Yes it is a "concern" but what are we supposed to do, ask for each gun to be tracked in a database and updated each time it's ownership changes? Gee, that sounds a lot like one of the proposed solutions to US gun issues...

If we cannot get that done in our own country then why on earth would we expect it to happen in the middle of a warzone?

well, it may be evidence of the view that as much as anything all the #StandWithUkraine arms support is as much as anything just to boost Qusdahl's stock value in the MIC.

and re: "each gun to be tracked in a database and updated each time it's ownership changes," you mean like we have to do for a motor vehicle? But yea, who knows whether the gummint could pull that one off, and what the implications might be. As has been suggested, perhaps the better administrator would be the private sector, in the form of liability insurance - again, just like we do with cars.

yet unlike cars, it would be a lot easier to hide an uninsured gun

and also unlike cars, there's no toxic culture in America that would insist on some principle of blanket opposition to motor vehicle insurance.

Yes, exactly like cars. Creating a database to track the current and past owners of a weapon is not even remotely complex or challenging. A college intern could code the database and a rudimentary GUI interface to access, read and update it. The guns already have a unique serial number assigned and printed right on them.

probably…

That’s an eye roll comment from twocoach.

Just shrugging back end dev for something as massive as a National database build as something for a college intern. lolzboat.
