First of all, I envisioned the dark star thread as the thread for all things Dead, but this still fits in the music thread.

On second thought - how does it fit in the music thread if Jerry says it's not music?

kinda bummed he didn't hold a high opinion or rap, though. By that logic, drums and percussion isn't music either, since it's only got meter to it? So go figure it's Mickey Hart of all people rapping.

I haven't watched this yet, but it seems odd to me that Jerry would say that about any music.

I think David Ganz played something from 1973 on his show that was very close to the good ole GD doing rap. I think it was Fire on the Mountain. I heard it many years ago so I may be misremembering.

then again, I think that's the same interview in which Jerry looses his shit giggling about how somebody put 800 hits of acid in his birthday cake, so maybe take it with a grain of salt.

Music, food, etc., I say to each their own but in my opinion you are denying/closing yourself off to a lot of good stuff.

I'm not saying these are the best of the particular genre but without my giving it much thought these are decent representations.
