Conference Realignment..?
Re: Conference Realignment..?
9. Houston
28. Cincinnati
But I also think you can still count some portion of LA, San Diego and Las Vegas into the Pac 12 footprint.

Re: Conference Realignment..?
LDS church reported 16.5M members in 2019. What percentage of those do you think legitimately follows college sports? I'd think 25% would be generous. That's 4.2M, good for 15th.

Re: Conference Realignment..?
There's certainly a portion of LA you can still count in the Pac 12 footprint. Vegas is an anomaly. Is there really a dedicated Pac 12 media market there? Seems like a rare nationwide thing you can't pin down since it's mostly a destination for people to go watch national games on bet on them.

Re: Conference Realignment..?
IMO, the Pac 12's problems have nothing to do with population base. They could be in some trouble. California is not some big proponent in revenue athletics. I think you could say the same, to a lesser degree, about some of the PNW as well.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
I think this is a bit of an outdated way to look at it (assuming you're making it about TV market size).
Re: Conference Realignment..?
I am okay with this idea.

Re: Conference Realignment..?
not that it matters a ton in this context, but the Mormon base is international
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Conference Realignment..?
It's one way to look at it, not the only.
You could also look at it like the Big 12's footprint is largely filled with a bunch of Trump supporting MAGAites......
Re: Conference Realignment..?
Definitely agree that Vegas is an anomaly.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:16 pmThere's certainly a portion of LA you can still count in the Pac 12 footprint. Vegas is an anomaly. Yeah I'm certainly not nitpicking about the cities you threw out there, those are all valid points, just seems like Vegas is a difficult market to assign.Cascadia wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:29 pmDefinitely agree that Vegas is an anomaly.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:16 pmThere's certainly a portion of LA you can still count in the Pac 12 footprint. Re: Conference Realignment..?
Interesting to note that with the thinking being this round of expansion would see the B1G abandoning their priority on AAU institutions and now they're adding 2 AAU schools.

Only Big 10 or SEC. Or Big 10 and SEC going to 20ish, and then Pac-12/Big 12 leftovers for another 20ish.
Nebraska
Minnesota
Iowa
Wisconsin
Illinois
Northwestern
Purdue
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan State
Ohio State
Penn State
Rutgers
Maryland
UCLA
USC
Stanford
Oregon
Washington
Kansas

i think they’d absolutely prefer AAU schools, but that it’s also not necessarily a deal breakerUnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:45 pm Interesting to note that with the thinking being this round of expansion would see the B1G abandoning their priority on AAU institutions and now they're adding 2 AAU schools.

It could also mean Missouri finally gets that B1G invite. They'd be crazy not to accept, but the SEC invite was literally the only success that athletic department has ever had, and they'll hang their hat on it for a long, long time.

Re: Conference Realignment..?
I would prefer Colorado over say Washington to save a little on travel.
