so beav went to a drag show.

and that's fine!

he was like super excited about it and everything.

but, I guess my question is, how can you tell if your roommate is a little too excited about drag queens?
When he comes home, tells you about it, and starts doing this.

Wife and daughter are both sick. Cough cough sneeze sneeze. Mrs. 99 had to call in sick tonight and because it's a holiday, they're making her get a Dr.'s note. She'll be spending quality time with Fingerless Freddy.

I told them I'm out and staying in a hotel tonight.

Both are sleeping.
Not sure how they're feeling.
Mrs 99's covid test came back negative, so that's cool.

About a year ago, in the depths of the Delta wave, I had symptoms of what I thought surely was Covid. Tested negative three times. Turned out it was community-acquired-bacterial-pneumonia. One course of antibiotics got rid of most of the symptoms except the cough. Lasted over a month and needed an inhaler to finally get rid of it. Not pleasant although I was so relieved that it wasn’t Covid.

Hopefully your wife and daughter recover soon.

Some of you are familiar with farm life, so perhaps you can relate. As our society becomes more like Orwell's 1984 every day, an antidote to many of our threads (too much violence, too many abortions, unfettered destruction of the Earth) would be the castration of most human men. Do you know some prostate cancer survivors? Some eunuchs? Apparently, choosing to be castrated is a thing (better skin, quit losing your hair, a whole new world of sex (or none at all)). Anyway, on the farm, only one male is needed, and that helps keep the fields from being overgrazed. We also castrate the young males to keep the masses more manageable because the aggression is reduced.
If we can't separate ourselves from the animals and Big Brother controls our bodies, your balls are history.

I don't know much about the farm life, but that sounds like a fantastic idea!

how quickly are we becoming some Orwellian dystopia?

We're still averse to overbearing government control and surveillance, right?

and yet, we're far too obedient to corporate control and surveillance.

(spoiler alert! the modern US government is actually just like 4 corporations in a trench coat)

Power changes people. Often times for the worse.

oh, for sure. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, or whatever.

you mention power changes people "often times for the worse" - does power ever change anyone for the better?

but that's what Qusdahl's all about: examining humanity's relationship with power in a self-aware way, and establishing systems designed to dilute and disperse that power, rather than allow it to become too concentrated. It's a freaky thought, and no easy task.

I know it's not as black and white as I am making it out to be but there are "powerful" people who do and have done good things for others - and the world - that wouldn't have been able to do the same things if they weren't "powerful".
One example off the top of my head is LeBron James.
Yes, I realize there are differences between money and power.

You ask a great question. Welcome to the world of "social media" in 2020.
I know there are vast differences between posting videos of yourself on Instagram, Facebook, tik tok, etc., and posting on here, but ponder this for a moment.
Supposedly there have been close to 280,000 posts on this site.
EVERY post was made by someone seeking attention. You and I have had about 20,000 things we felt the need to share with others on here. Why?

Joke’s still on you!

Cuz, 60% of the time, I’m right every time.
