The worst that could happen is we end up getting stoned and go to Basta for dinner instead. I could live with that.

Tmcats says KSU is going to join the SEC. God I hope he is right, that would be hilarious. The goatfuckers from State fighting it out with the inbreds from Mizzou for most irrelevant in the conference. Slapping each other on the back and talking about how other SEC team fans really "travel well".

Basta...is that the Italian joint in Boulder?

is that where you get the cheesedick?

or, as the menu reads, "formaggio penne"

You're thinking of "formaggio peen".

Basta is the Italian place that doesn't serve "peen". I was at a dinner party in the Empire a year and a half ago that Chef Kelly Whitaker cooked over a wood fire in my friend's yard. I remember saying, "but I don't really like tequila" and waking up the next morning under a fruit tree. I would gladly have him cook dinner for me again....and wake up under a fruit tree.

Good luck with that. Fox has already pulled their sponsorship of the PAC. Utah is hardly the league spokesman.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

So it seems like UCLA and USC hot-shotted this whole thing due to some serious money woes.

UCLA's AD told the LA Times this week that if they weren't able to pull off this move to the Big 10, their deficit is so big they were going to start cutting sports.

USC wanted a chunk of that new billion-dollar TV deal that's coming for the Big 10 because their big money donors had stopped donating to the athletic department/administration and instead started giving their money to the NIL collectives to go to the athletes directly.

I'm taking that with a grain of salt. That seems to be one of about a half-dozen ideas PR people floated to Dennis Dodd that he decided to throw against the wall on Twitter to see what would stick.

The ACC is locked into a pretty dismal TV contract for a loooonnng time. It seems like desperation on the part of some PAC members to engage with them and pretend they didn't lose their sponsors. But the Big 12 has to be the way of things for any school not wanting to lose serious money. That Utah tweet is indicative of some serious delusion.

yeah, i read that about ucla too

seems like the whole UC system has been in financial difficulty for more than a decade (not just athletic depts.)

totally agree

i just enjoy the soap opera of it all. a whole lot of throwing a bunch of shit at the wall to see what sticks, when there are likely very few that really know what’s going on with individual conferences and institutions, and the back channel discussions that are going on

Complete crock. The big time part of CFB has almost ruined the game by controlling access to athletes. There are only about five teams who can compete already.

local talking heads are almost certain the pac wont survive the current defections

seems the big question is what oregon and washington are gonna do. will the Big 12 hold their feet to the fire and request a solid commitment, rather than giving them an out should the B1G come calling?

Oregon (Nike)
Washington (Seattle)
Notre Dame (Catholics)

Those have to be the next 3 pieces to move.

I didn't read the column, but I can see a path where superconferences could help fix CFB. Give more than just 5 schools the chance to win a national championship--the current setup is so bad and boring.

A 16-team CFB Playoff of big, national school brands in a world where sports gambling is legal--just start printing money.

it may be inevitable, but ncaa fb turning into nfl-lite doesn’t seem like a good thing
