So my community does this “music in the park” thing every Thursday, for which a musical act performs…in the park…

Anywho so tonight it was supposed to be this Johnny Cash tribute guy, but the guy ended up being more all-purpose Americana.

I only mention here cuz the crowd wasn’t ever into it so I kept telling he should play some Dead. Know your audience bro.

Next song, he busts out Big River, brilliant dude, actually got a response.

Later on, we get I Know You Rider. And, non-Dead version more traditional country acoustic Americana though it was, it was great. I thought it somehow finally tied up that looose end left by the Rider-less China Cat I got at the red rocks symphony thing last week.

And that makes me feel a little better about the universe. So I hope all you guys are feeling good about the universe tonight too.

Nice!
Last night there was live music in the park a couple of blocks from me. There were considerably less people than there normally are when they have live music in that park. My first thought was the music must suck but then I realized that I like some music that most people don't like so perhaps these musicians and what they were playing would have been very enjoyable to me.

Anyways, looks like tonight's show has NOT been cancelled. Yet.
Hopefully Mayer's father is doing better and he will be performing with the guys at the Lube in Bristol this evening. The weather there is supposed to be perfect.

Mayer's Bertha fuck up is going to go down as one of the classic moments in D&C history.

Fantastic show - and 1:35:30 to 1:40:30 is 5 minutes of what I felt was (and still is) absolute musical mastery.

There's some cool, jazzy stuff from 73 with Bill and no Mickey.
I like them better with two though.

Yea.

There’s also the whole part about how Mickey’s dad F’d over the band on the bidness end, but that’s not necessarily affecting the music itself

"The Dead" meaning any surviving members of the Grateful Dead?
I'm a bit confused and admit my ignorance, other than in the mid 60s and a period in the early 70s, when have "The Dead" only had one drummer?
I feel the band doesn't need two drummers but it thrives more when there are two drummers.
More worthless opinion/s....
Billy isn't a great drummer - but he's THEE original.
I feel Mickey is (or was) a better drummer than Billy but he's not the one I would pick if I had to choose between the two - and he's a bit stale now that he has old balls.
So which of the two are better to perform with Bobby and whomever else plays with them?
You tell me.
I will say, I feel Jay Lane did a very nice job filling in for Billy.

Bottom line is - Bobby, Billy, and Mickie, don't have so many days left on Earth. I just don't see Mayer, Chimenti, and Oteil performing together in the future without the original members of the band.

Anybody realize the last words Brent Mydland sang by himself were "I gotta go but my friend/s can stick around"?
Yes, I was there. Just as I was at Jerry's last show.
