Getting anything for Santana blows me away. The team looking ready to make a run next year. Pratto still waiting the call. Vinnie reminds me of Butler quite a bit.
After changing baseball in 2014/15, Moore has completely neglected the pen. He has been completely ineffective obtaining talent there. Yesterday, the Royals blew another big lead courtesy of Moore's big off season signing. Garrett has been abysmal. With starters going four innings, either the Royals stop pitch counting or concentrate on getting 10 new arms.
Matheny blew two challenges. Didn't use them on clear mistakes and nearly ruined tonight's game. He needs to go yesterday. Team won in spite of the manager. Including trying to bunt with two strikes.
I say keep him and pay him. What Moore will do is spin the washed out arms and cash deal as a "win-win." They have zero credibility with me after 2017. Any idiot can recreate the 2005 Royals.
Beyond Matheny, who I believe can lose 20 games on his own, this team has the makings of a great one. The Royals need pen help in an era of strict pitch counts. Sunday's four inning relief job is the way of things. But Isbel and Vinnie coming on, along with Melendez and Witt can form a really solid core. DH Salvy. Platoon Dozier and O'Hearn, keep Bennie. The starters in the field are solid. Pitching to contact and strengthening the pen would get them close to.500 this year. Need a solid manager though. And no fire sale.
Tired of cheap ownership.
