NFL 2022
Re: NFL 2022
"The Chiefs' final offer to Brown was a six-year, $139 million deal that included a $30.25 million signing bonus and $95 million in the first five years of the contract..."
This would have put him, on average salary, as the top tackle in football.
More than Trent Williams, David Bakhtiari and Ronnie Stanley.
Come on dude.

He needs to fire his agent after turning that down.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 11:05 am "The Chiefs' final offer to Brown was a six-year, $139 million deal that included a $30.25 million signing bonus and $95 million in the first five years of the contract..."

Re: NFL 2022
There was some team friendly structuring here -- 95 million of it would be in the first five seasons - with 44 million in the final/6th season -- so there'd be a decent chance he wouldn't see that last season.
Regardless, on average, he would have been the highest paid tackle.

“He wanted an agent who didn’t have prior relationships or friendships with any general managers,” Garafolo said in another tweet. “Portner will be negotiating his first NFL contract, and Brown looked at that as a positive.”

His experience has shown so far. It will be curious if he ends up losing from the initial offer or gaining.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 12:11 pmLOL! Re: NFL 2022
He is loosing out on a 30 million dollar signing bonus THIS year.
Instead he will play for 16.7 million.

Re: NFL 2022
You have to look at value too. Mahomes is better out of the pocket anyway.
Brown's agent and his fear of flashy numbers.
It was incredibly daft to turn down the bonus and deal. The only more stupid thing would be holding out. He needs reps and is still learning. His agent is all about guarantees: I guarantee Brown will lose millions of dollars now.

Spend spend spend on the offensive line.
Shed big contracts for skill positions ( sans Mahomes of course ).

Agreed. KC needs to spend big on OL
and DL.
Protect Mahomes and pressure the shit out of opposing QB’s

Kyler Murray extension: 5 years, 230 million.
46 mill a season, 2nd most in the NFL on average.
Mahomes is 4th.

Re: NFL 2022
I agree on protecting Mahomes, but the fact is the edge guys are great coming after him along with blitzers. I am not sure if players or schemes are most important protecting QB1. Guys who get open quick and gash the defense are pretty darn valuable, as are guys who don't let Burrows outrun them. There should be some cash available. . .
Re: NFL 2022
Russ, Herbert, Lamar, Burrow all have contracts coming up.
They'll top Murray in pay.
But still.

At this rate, I suspect that Tyreek will soon declare Tua the greatest QB in NFL history. Watching this guy try to think up things to say besides "$30 million per year is why".
Tua since being drafted in 2020:
66.2% comp pct
(t-19th among 37 qualified QBs)

Re: NFL 2022
More stupid.
Tua was also 24th in yards per pass thrown last season, meaning his 19th comp percentage is combined with easier passes.

Re: NFL 2022
Watson suspended 6 games with no fine. Kind of a joke is you ask me.
Re: NFL 2022
Also don't forget that Calvin Ridley was suspended for an entire season and lost $11M for gambling and Josh Gordon has been suspended for 20+ games due to weed.
