Uncle Joe
Re: Uncle Joe
I like how we can't talk politics in the bbq thread, but bbq in a politics thread is fair game.

Sounds like Sinema is on board, after a few tweaks, and that the Inflation Reduction Act will get through Senate. More progress.
go figure, it all comes down to a pipeline that will likely be obsolete by the time it’s finished, but has the potential to do severe damage to local environments that are already heavily damaged by the mining industry in Appalachia
For those interested.
Re: Uncle Joe
The Dems just need to get a net win of three more seats to make Manchin and Sinema truly irrelevant.
Re: Uncle Joe
Dems seem to have a little better shot at retaining their current advantage or picking up seats than the GOP has of regaining the Senate from the way things look today. We'll see how that plays out over the next month or so.

Re: Uncle Joe
Dems will definitely have the tools to change the sentiment if gas prices continue to fall and the climate/inflation bill gets passed
i’m not sure how any indictments, or lack thereof, stemming from the Jan. 6 hearings (of trump or anyone else) might be received

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Uncle Joe
I would expect to see any sort of indictments coming out of the DoJ before the midterms as they seem to be moving at a snail's pace. But it smells like they are continuing to gather information and that indictments could be in the future.KUTradition wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 2:15 pm Dems will definitely have the tools to change the sentiment if gas prices continue to fall and the climate/inflation bill gets passed

Best path is hold AZ, GA, and run the PA, OH and WI trifecta. Easier said than done but who knew KS would codify rationality by a 20-point margin. If they can increase turnout by 3-5% among women and under-25 it’s a cakewalk.

It will be hilarious if accomplishing the thing they have been trying to accomplish for more than 3 decades ends up being the beginning of their demise.zsn wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 6:59 pmBest path is hold AZ, GA, and run the PA, OH and WI trifecta. Looks like the moves by the Biden administration to get gas prices cooled off are working. 67 straight days of dropping fuel prices, down $1.10 from their peak and continuing to fall. Good news for the economy as we inch closer to the holidays. Hopefully we start seeing some grocery prices aggressively drop next.

Re: Uncle Joe
correction. uncle joe wants gas at 5 bucks a gallon. so he can ram his mythical ev's down the country's throat.
Re: Uncle Joe
in my city/township/county, an ev spotting on a dealership lot, is like spotting bigfoot.

i guarantee you it isn’t because “the folks” don’t want them…even if you personally aren’t interested
a little birdie told me that EV distributions to dealerships nationally are nearly entirely political in nature, rather than being driven by demand

Re: Uncle Joe
i would consider buying an ev if:
1. i could find one
2. the price comes down some
i think most people are thinking the same.
