I loved the old Tiger Woods PC games because users could create their own custom courses that you could download and play. I had probably 300+ different courses. Some were real courses tourney courses, some were real local courses and others were crazy fantasy courses.

Re: Video Games
I got selected in one of the Sony PS5 events to buy a PS5 Digital tomorrow at retail.
I don't play games very much (once or twice a month?), so I am hesitant, but also seems like I should just pull the trigger. Thoughts?

if nothing else, buy and flip
(that’s what i’d do)

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Re: Video Games
Not enough games for me to switch to PS5. Plus how could I play Skyrim?

Re: Video Games
I played the hell out of that series. I believe it was Tiger 2008 that a buddy and I got deep into, to the point that we'd routinely card 46s and 47s.

Re: Video Games
I had a minor obsession with collecting fan-made courses for the old Tiger Woods PC games. I had hundreds of different courses that people had created themselves. That was fun.
Re: Video Games
I just looked up in my cabinet and I still have Tiger Woods 08 sitting in there. Loved that game.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 9:51 pm08 tiger was insane. So many hole out eagles.
Re: Video Games
I am playing a lot of Elden Ring on PS5 these days. It is a frustrating game to get into as it has no tracking of quests or goals at all but it is huge and beautiful. It is also very nuanced in that you are much better off being a multidimensional player who can do spells etc... than to just be a button mashing mauler like I honestly am. Now that I have leveled up my character enough to hold my own in the majority of fights, it is a lot more fun. But you pretty much have to use online resources to figure out how to do a lot of the game. I had my kid reading a walk through of a dungeon to me as I was playing because the path to get where I wanted to get was so crazy.
Re: Video Games
I was gifted Elden Ring.
I played for ten minutes.
Over it for now.

Re: Video Games
And, the putting had a “secret” formula that was pretty easily sorted, so between the hole outs and the formula, it would be a disappointment to have more than 18 putts in a round.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 9:51 pm08 tiger was insane. So many hole out eagles.
Re: Video Games
Tried it again for an hour.
Died three times.
Lost all my 'runes' or whatever, because I died I guess, they don't explain anything.
It's a good looking game ( sans the font size ).
It's also a horrible experience.
Re: Video Games
No doubt the scale is exceptional.
I just don't have the time to invest in learning a game that does such a poor job at teaching you it's mechanics and game play.
On top of this, I hear, in order to play multiplayer, you have to spend items/runes to summon someone, and then, when you do so, you open your world up to assholes who can invade your game and kill you both and take your runes.
Why?
Why would you discourage friends from playing online on the same team?

Re: Video Games
I don't do any of the online stuff and have played through the game twice (you get to keep all your stuff and try to get one of the six different endings is why to play through multiple times). I got bored with it and now I am prepping the house to hit the market ASAP so not much gaming time available.pdub wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 5:59 pm No doubt the scale is exceptional.

I also saw that the Hogwarts Legacy game I have been waiting om for 2 years has an official release date of Feb 10th 2023. I was hoping it would be the holidays of this year. Grrrr.
