DUI is far far different, to me, than brandishing a firearm.
Seems that both are wielding a potentially deadly weapon, to me.

I’d guess over 50 percent of the US population has driven under the influence before. I’d guess under 3 percent of the population has threatened someone with a gun.

And then there’s the intent.

I’m likely younger or at least a similar age than you.
And also yes, carrying firearms and pulling them out of your car should be normalized and we shouldn’t rush to judgement for college kids threatening others with them.

It’s totally cool.

It’s your percentage guesses that make you a boomer.

Arrest charges associated with a deadly weapon annually 236,000.

DUI 1.5 million.

And I’d very much argue you have a greater chance of getting away with driving drunk than using a gun to threaten ( or shoot ) someone.

So probably closer to 6 percent than 3.

Or let’s simplify this, how many here have, in their past, driven while possibly if you had been pulled over, not been able to pass a breathalyzer? How many of you have pulled out a gun you were carrying on your person or in your car to threaten a stranger?

Three questions.
1. Why do our football players drive around with guns in their cars?
2. Why do we normalize this type of behavior?

3. Anyone cool with this type of behavior if it's you and/or someone you love that is confronted by someone with a gun pointed at you/them?

1. It’s just so dumb. You’re in Lawrence Kansas going to school on scholarship for playing football. No guns needed.

When Morningstar, the day after Self gave the team a curfew, was pulled over for a DUI and suspended for a semester, I supported that.

This, if as reported, is worse than that, so kicking someone off the team wouldn’t be that surprising. Let’s see how Lance handles this.

No.
Just no.
Yes, unfortunately. There was someone here who was pulled out of his car and beaten within an inch of his life. There are incidents of guns being pulled everywhere--a lot of times to warn off attacks with other guns.

These aren’t kids. These are grown men who know the difference between right and wrong. This is by far one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. You flash a gun against a city employee in a marked car. You deserve every bit of what is coming for you.

Further more why in the world does a football player living in Lawrence feel the need they need to keep a toolie on deck?

Dumb. Just dumb. Wilson, goodbye. Scott I would keep on a very, very short leash.

My guess:

Bye bye, Wilson
2-3 game suspension for Scott

Buzz is the guy Wilson at least flashed the gun at was a city of Lawrence employee.

I’m fine if they both go or both stay. Dumb move, but I don’t think it’s as big a deal as some. Young people do stupid shit all the time.

I'm right in line with you on this.

Sounds like there's video from a dash cam that exonerates Tanaka in this. Apparently Wilson was having words with the other guy in a road rage incident, Tanaka got out of his car to tell Wilson to let it go and it's not worth it. When Wilson wouldn't drop it, Tanaka got back in his car and left. Police and KU admin/coaches are rumored to have reviewed the video, determined Tanaka didn't do anything wrong, and the charges were dropped. I think that will keep him on the team with some kind of suspension. But I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Wilson gets the boot. But if he doesn't, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I love how it went from, “ This kid brandished a gun” to “ Oh there’s video, I guess he just got in his car and left”

Crazy how many people have such a strong opinion about things they know absolutely nothing about.

Precipitating events are unknown. Anyone who drives lives in a constant maelstrom of YGBSM moments punctuated by Trump flags and guns.
