Go to restaurant, see that a specific dish on the menu doesn't have x topping on it.
Ask for x topping to be put on it - restaurant says they don't do substitutions.
Order the dish anyways, leave restaurant, go to nearby grocery store to get a container of x topping, take container out on table and put x topping on dish once it arrives.

I was a breakfast cook for a while on weekends. This dude came in every week and wanted an omlette with Canadian bacon, cream cheese, avocado, green onions, green peppers and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember. It was disgusting. I told the server I wouldn't make it and besides, we were out of avocadoes. (Yeah, I should have made it). This happens for the next couple of weeks. The third week, dude brings in his own avocado. I felt obligated to make it at that point.

tl;dr version NBD, I give it a 1.

I'm kinda curious what topping x is.

Kinda thinking it's something embarrassing and/or gross, hence the CoyDC treatment.

I've been told it's good to make some custom order, particularly at fast food type joints, cuz then you know you're getting some fresh item that was just made (with, or perhaps more applicably without, a certain ingredient/s), rather than get some item that's been sitting under a heat lamp all day.

but that's kinda overthinking fast food cuz it' prob gonna suck regardless.

not all special ingredient requests are the same though. the dood who ordered an omelette from 99 at least had more or less usual ingredients for breakfast food. There's avocado, then there's topping x.
