This is delusional lol. Biden and his democrats just added 87000 new irs agents to the budget. Training them and arming them. Its crazy to me that people are applauding the side slowly dismantling freedom. This is America

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
So the government is gonna collect an additional estimated 20 billion from the working class. And had armed agents ready to enforce it and seize property.
Meanwhile the other side had the economy booming because of tax cuts

There’s a reason why Republicans are feverishly scrubbing their websites.
Re: Dumbfuck in charge
it's not delusional to think that little by little the middle class is being choked out. The reasons behind that can be debated.
Just Ledoux it
Re: Dumbfuck in charge
Is it your and randy’s thesis that the “middle class” has been cheating the Federal Government of $20 billion? Mathematics hasn’t always been MAGA-world’s strong point (eg. 7 million fewer votes = overwhelming victory), but follow the bouncing ball here. Tax rates haven’t gone up except for the highest earners and corporations. So where and how is enforcement going to squeeze the $$ except unless the targets have been cheating all along. Is that your theory?

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
Huh? If the share of people who are considered "middle class" is shrinking, it is due to more prosperity. More people are moving up to the upper class than down to the lower class. And this has been a pretty consistent rate of change since the 1970s.

and TDub, in response to Taco Bell workers in the strike thread, you also just posted "that else do they want?"
Would it be reasonable to include fast food workers as part of some middle class? How would it be reasonable?
Or should we accept some other sort of poverty class to be serving up our burrito supreme?

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
It's really weird to see Republicans be so pissed that people and countries aren't paying what they owe and then turn around and complain about Biden upping IRS resources to help enforce that people pay what they owe. It's as if their arguments are just meaningless, thoughtless political chum...zsn wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 9:54 am Is it your and randy’s thesis that the “middle class” has been cheating the Federal Government of $20 billion? The IRS isn't creating any new taxes. They are just adding resources so they can better process tax returns (the backlog of 2021 tax returns still yet to be processed is estimated to be around 20+ million still) and to enforce the existing laws in place, which the GOP claims they are big on. Just throw it on the growing mountain of hypocrisy.
Re: Dumbfuck in charge
No, it would not be reasonable at all. Entry level positions are not middle class. If you stack the available jobs in this nation from top to bottom, they are in the lower class. You cannot and should not make a middle class wage in a lower class job. If you want them to make middle class wages then you better get on board paying $14 for your burrito supreme.ousdahl wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 9:58 am and TDub, in response to Taco Bell workers in the strike thread, you also just posted "that else do they want?"

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
well, the bigger idea is, is it possible to progress to a more classless society?
One in which there are not class divisions we look down upon as "lower?"
and fwiw more than happy to pay a little more for a burrito supreme if it means fewer Mericans living in poverty. Or, rather than the only solution offered being consumers pick up the slack, what if our entire economic model was geared more toward providing livable conditions for workers, and less toward corporate profits?
...btw, is it possible to get vegan cheese and free range beans on that burrito supreme? Asking for Qusdahl.

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
Stop with the "look down upon"; it's nonsense and has no place in a discussion about economics. There is no such thing as a classless society. Even tribes living untouched by modern life in a rainforest in Brazil have a class structure. Some members of a society are simply better equipped to provide services that are deemed more desirable than others. If you figure out how to create a society where the members have zero desire then maybe you'll get a chance to go classless.
Re: Dumbfuck in charge
fast food employees aren't middle class no.ousdahl wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 9:58 am and TDub, in response to Taco Bell workers in the strike thread, you also just posted "that else do they want?"

fast food employment is meant to be an entry level job, or supplemental income, not a career to support a family.

dang, twocoach quoted me before I edited.
where you getting this info about tribes living untouched by modern life in Brazil?
if they're untouched then how are we able to analyze them economically?
and aren't many indigenous communities well known for being organized around providing for the whole community, rather than accumulating wealth for the upper classes?
and "there is no such thing as a classless society" lends itself about as much credence as "hey founding fathers you shouldn't bother with democracy cuz the Greeks already tried it and it just doesn't work."
or perhaps the better analogy is comparing "there is no such thing as a classless society" to when the commissioner of the U.S. patent office in 1899 declared, "everything than can be invented has been invented."

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
on some technical level, yea. (well then, no reason to do republics either, cuz Rome already tried, and look how THAT turned out!)
On some practical systemic level tho, Merica is closer to some kinda white patriarchal capitalist aristocracy. Always has been.
Just ask women and people of color. And poor folks!
actually, don't ask poor folks. They're not an exploited proletariat, they're just a bunch of temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

Speaking of delusional.... You really believe they are hiring 87,000 agents and they are all going to be armed?randylahey wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 9:08 amThis is delusional lol. Let me help you.
A. The IRS isn't adding 87,000 "agents".
B. Yes, they are attempting to add a substantial number of EMPLOYEES in the next decade that will bring the total number to close to what it was in 1990. You know, when H.W. (a Republican) was President.
C. The IRS is expected to lose around 50,000 of its estimated/approximately 80,000 WORKERS over the next five years. The hirings are mostly to replace those employees they are going to lose.
D. Less than 7,000 of the new hires will be "agents".
E. Less than 1% of the new hires will be "armed".

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
Look up some of the ammo purchases made by the irs in the past year. And some of the training irs "employee" have. And the use of force they are permitted.
I cant understand why a single irs employee would need a gun or ammunition. They just audit taxes right?
