I didn't accidentally do anything in my post. The Dems aren't "anti you having a gun". They are "anti" assholes (and non-assholes) being able to get guns easier than it is to get a driver's license - and "anti" people having the ability to possess certain guns that are 100% unnecessary for CIVILIANS to own.
What little sanity I have makes me believe anyone would have to be a complete piece of shit human being not to be "anti" that.
I say that as someone who had a friend shot by an asshole who had easy access to an assault weapon and a women I knew was killed at the same FOURTH OF JULY PARADE.
At work I spoke with a summer intern who was a student at Stoneman Douglas and she watched her classmates die because some asshole had easy access to an assault gun.
I'm the guy who found his best friend dead in his apartment riddled with bullet holes in his body.
You're God damned right I want stricter gun laws. Fuck those who don't!

Its the opposite of what this country is supposed to be
specifically what parts of the democratic platform do you consider to be very aggressive?
Wanting to do away with guns and sensoring free speech.

Plus shit like using the school systems to indoctrinate children and teach the things parents don't agree with instead of teaching actual life skills

Sorry for your loses. Still doesn't make the 2a any less important. Murder is illegal. They did it anyways. Stricter guns laws will only take guns away from law abiding citizens. People that don't follow the laws will still finds way to get those guns you don't like

The main point of the 2a is to protect people for a tyrannical government. That is just as important now as it was in 1776

Most illegal firearms and other weapons (as well as drugs, human traffickin) all come into the US through the southern border. Through the cartel. You'd think if biden and company truly cared about those issues that he would put some emphasis on trying to secure our southern border?

Instead of not just ignoring that issue but opposing it. And instead spending billions of dollars in taxpayers money to secure Ukraines borders instead

I sincerely appreciate you saying you're sorry. I don't disagree that the 2nd Amendment is important.
I don't feel LAW ABIDING citizens should have their guns taken away. I do feel differently when it comes to excessive "assault weapons" and civilians possessing them - but that's a whole other much more complicated/complex conundrum - for me.
To the best of my knowledge very few if any Democratic law makers want law abiding citizens to have their right/s to own guns taken away nor have their guns taken away. Those who do, I would disagree with them.
I know I have been harsh and opinionated towards you but please understand it's more the subject and much less you personally that I have a hard time with.

I dunno if 2A is necessarily as simple as “protect people from a tyrannical gummint”

It’s about the security of a free state.

Cuz if it’s about not letting gummint get tyrannical, then how come so many among the 2A crowd are also so cool with one taxpayer-funded blank check after another for the MIC and the police?

The military is never gonna just wage an all out war on the people. Military has family too. Were all people. But the government will push people around, especially if they have no means of defending themselves

No worries. I dont take anything personally on here. I can see why its a sensitive subject. And for the most part I think everyone means well regardless of what side of the debate they are on. Its important for people like you and me to find common ground and be able to relate

People who forget history often fall victim to reliving it. Anyone that doesn't think the 2a is important doesn't understand history very well. The 2a is the only amendment that truly protects all the other amendments and freedoms so many people take for granted

I personally don't feel that way at all. I have perfectly fine with some weapons being owned by some people. Giving legal access to military grade weapons to incompetent individuals in a country in the midst of tremendous amounts of societal aggression is a recipe for disaster that someone needs to make some changes to.

We didn't need to have laws written about making clones of humans when the Constitution was written. Now we do. Weaponry has changed so much that what is now readily available is far too deadly if it finds itself in the wrong hands. There are reasonable changes that can be made to who has access and to what and those changes do not eliminate anyone's ability to own a gun that a majority agree should not own a weapon of war.

Why do people think criminals obey laws? It blows my mind. Especially the kind of criminals willing to break laws as serious as murder. Changing gun laws will do nothing.

Except make it so the bad guys have a lot more powerful weapons than the good guys

Yes, this. 2A is an anachronism as is “quartering of soldiers”. Besides it’s a corrupt and inept SC which incorrectly decided it’s an individual right.

I’m actually more scared of randy and his 2A crowd than any apocryphal tyrannical government (Jan 6, anyone?). So maybe that’s who I need to defend myself against!

Right, not obeying laws is exactly what criminals do

So how do we create communities with fewer criminals?

Something that will probably never happen again. Recreate that village atmosphere where everyone feels valued important and nobody left behind. You know the ways humans existed the previous 99 percent of our existence as our species evolved. before big cities/society

Youre scared of me? The person that literally wants the government to leave me alone and allow people the ability to defend themselves against tyranny and oppression?
