FX is on the shortlist for best original content. FX has been consistent from their get go.

the shield
SOA
justified
fargo
the American crime stories
snowfall
the old man
the Americans

maybe only HBO has been better with their original content. i could survive easily with only FX and HBO.

You are missing FX's best show in Always Sunny but i'm guessing, looking at The Shield, Sons of Anarchy and Justified as your top shows on FX, you're not a fan.

I never did get into Fargo the show, even though I loved Fargo the movie.

Just didn't have the same timing to it, or something.

and yea, as far as TV goes, Sunny is superlative.

Just finished season 3 of Barry. Last episode was one of the most intense shows I have ever seen. Kudos to Alec Berg and Bill Hader.

i just saw a story about a european start-up that is going to be producing “meat” by culturing cells in a lab…cells from actual animals, starting with fishes

imo, those kinds of initiatives are a bridge too far considering the amount of food waste currently happening in affluent nations

we don’t need to stop using the natural world, we just need to use it more efficiently…live with the land, not on it

As long as it's nutritionally and deliciously the same, and is proven to have a lower impact on our Earth, I'm game.

eh…we shall see (that’s pretty much the same situation as i was reading about, but with a different “meat”)

i’d be curious to know what the resource toll is for such projects

This will give you an idea as to where this technology is at right now.

Tons of money being invested into this technology.

There is no “meat” about it. It’s actual meat.

lol…i know exactly what it is

“meat” has a rather broad definition, hence the quotes
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

so back in July I donated a guided small stream "brookie bashing" fishing trip to a nonprofit fundraiser auction.

The item listing, the certificate, and the convo I had at the auction with the guy who bought it all said the same thing: let's do this trip by no later than early September, as the brook trout fishing on these small streams is only good in the warmer months, and just aren't biting the same once the temps drop.

During that convo with the guy who bought it, he says, "oh ok, so if you recommend early September by the latest, then let's shoot for early September." I maintain - dude, that's 2 months from now, so if you 're able to do it aaaaany time in the next two months, let's do that, it'll be a lot better experience. The dude, almost defiantly, doubles down. "Actually, I think it's best to do it early September."

Fast forward 2 and a half months. I'm drinking coffee this morning, watching a chilly rain roll in, looking at the mostly nasty forecast for the next couple weeks. I think to myself, man so this weather prob means the end of brookie bashing for the season. I had pretty much entirely forgot about the trip.

Of course, right then is when I randomly get a voicemail. "Hi, it's the friendly asshole tourist who bought y'all's guided trip at that auction back in July. I figure now's as good a time as any to finally do it!"

Goddamnit yall.

I guess there's still plenty of fishing options, and maybe some serviceably good small stream fishing somewhere. But, man. If yall had just fucking booked it any time in the last two months like yall was supposed to do, we'd be likely looking at a 30+ fish day. But now, it's more likely to be yet another day of "why ain't the fishing no good?" asked condescendingly, as if I'm doing something wrong, while I otherwise think of polite ways to offer told-you-sos.

Entitlement never ceases to amaze me. Why even pay for a guide if yall ain't gonna listen to them?

LOL. Love a good story time!

Are you a fishing guide or travel planner?

Guide the fishing (or lack thereof) and stay in your lane. If the donated service had an expiration date then tell them they missed it. If "early September" wasn't a real expiration date on the donatated service for the auction then seems like a stupid thing to complain about. Do your job. They're not entitled for having a life outside of your donated service.

Live with your choices.

That goes for them too. They paid money for a whiny ass part time fishing guide and aren't going to catch any fish. While also having to deal with your dumb life lessons and i told you so-s.

Illy you've been even more condescending than normal.

I wouldn't have a prob with that, except that you've done so literally everywhere except for the QT thread.
