Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

You put more effort in to it than I did. I just know not all 2977 were Americans.

Boebert was upset because Jayapal added the 19 terrorists (intentionally or mistakenly) in her number of people who died. Her exact words were...
“Today we remember the 2,996 people who were killed on 9/11 and all those who lost their lives while serving our country in the forever wars that followed,”

Meanwhile, Kevin McCarthy tweeted "We can never forget — not just the 2,996 souls we lost on 9/11 — but also the first responders who ran into the buildings and those who sacrificed to stop Flight 93,”
Interesting Boebert didn't find that "Disgusting".

Jayapal had been called out on that publicly in the past. It wasn't a mistake.

I don’t understand the problem or the outrage. Is that number wrong? Note that she didn’t state that we honor all the deceased. Just that we remember them. We remember the 19 differently than we remember the 2977. We remember them nevertheless for the vile excuse for humanity that they are. Whenever we describe the horrors of that day we always say 2977 people were killed by the actions of 19 people.

Right. She said/tweeted the same thing last year - and was called out for it.
Mistake or not, people do make the same mistakes twice but why is the number of people who died (2996 including the terrorists) a mistake? I'm curious about several things. Does she read people's responses to her? Did she actually tweet it herself or did one of her people tweet it? Why did she or someone else delete the tweet? What's strange to me is that supposedly she made a Facebook post on 9/11 where she used the number 2977 - which leads me to believe two different people may run her Twitter and Facebook accounts. Obviously she's only one person. Why use two different numbers?
If you Google how many people died on 9/11 the number shown is 2996. I am somewhat ashamed to admit until yesterday I didn't know the exact number of people who died. Including or not including the terrorists. My guess is most people don't know the 2977 and 2996 numbers either.

Also, as zsn alluded to in the post before this one, on her Twitter account it said - “Today we REMEMBER the 2,996 people who were killed on 9/11 and all those who lost their lives while serving our country in the forever wars that followed”
Did she specifically say she was honoring them - including the hijackers? Every 9/11 I remember hijackers flew the planes and they died.

Just more faux outrage. It's dumb.

As it relates to 9/11, I probably spend more time thinking about the path a life takes to find itself flying an airplane into a building than thinking about a life whose final moments was spent pondering whether or not to jump out of a window from more than 100 stories up. I dont want to spend a lot of time thinking about being in that situation as it must have been horrible.

per WashPo:

It’s not surprising then that a quarter of the country identified “preserving democracy” as their strongest motivation for casting a ballot in November, according to new polling from the 19th and SurveyMonkey. What may be surprising, though, is how squarely centered that concern is on the left. Once you consider who thinks the American system is working as is, though, that divide seems more understandable.

The pollsters offered respondents a few options to select from when identifying a primary motivation to vote. “Preserving democracy” and “jobs and the economy” accounted for about half of the responses overall. But while 3 in 10 Republicans and independents identified the economy as their main motivation, Democrats were half as likely to. (In this poll, “Democrats” and “Republicans” include independents who tend to vote with either of those parties.) A third of Democrats chose democracy, compared to a fifth of Republicans and 1 in 9 independents.

save democracy? meh…

Fucking disgusting. What's worse is the amount of time and effort those people have dedicated to generating and distributing such garbage and that they seem to consider themselves loyal patriots for doing so. I guess it's a glimpse into now Nazi Germany rose to be what it became. Hopefully one of these scumbags never finds themselves in the Oval Office.

Speaking of Michigan candidates.....

Not saying the Dem choice is fantastic but you have to laugh at the Pubs.

What happened? I guess the answer is Dixon happened.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2022-e ... -rcna34817

Then you had this with Dixon. I'm not going to be the one to teach her about pornography but come on, is she dumb or is she smarter than I am giving her credit for?

“Do you need me to define pornographic?” Ms Dixon asked. “I mean, I can, if you want me to. So there’s two naked people and they are acting out a sexual act, multiple different sexual acts.”

For someone (Boebert) who is so obsessed with and pro 2nd Amendment - I wonder if she realizes the many of the "founders" had little to do with the 2nd Amendment, many of the "founders" were actually pro/for gun regulation/s, and the "founders" were all men who would have laughed in her face - and back when the Constitution was written they had no vision of her being allowed in congress let alone being able to vote.

I think someone should also ask the "founders" how they feel about irresponsible gun owners who have children.
