Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
Yeah I can't take that line. I did KU team over and total o/u last week and it was a big money maker for me. May look at doing that again.

Big game this week for sure. Win this one and KU is most likely ranked in the Top 25. ESPN ranked the 33 remaining undefeated teams and had KU at #28. This week's opponent, Duke, came in at #31.

Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
"What they did in Week 3: defeated Houston 48-30
Why they're still unbeaten: Jalon Daniels, basically. He was great in a thrilling overtime win over West Virginia (219 passing yards, 85 rushing yards), and he might have been even better in the Jayhawks' strangely easy road upset of Houston (158 passing yards, 123 rushing yards). This offense has clicked.
Why they're ranked here: The defense is still lacking. SP+ is slow to respond to up-and-comers like this, but while I have no doubt that the Jayhawks are playing above a No. 81 level right now ... only their offense is. Allowing 72 points and 6.4 yards per play to two FBS opponents will take you only so far."
Yes, I think KU is like 24th or 25th if they beat Duke.
I will also say ( just hopeful thinking ) that Lance may look at Daniels, age 19, and think, I can do some things with him next season.

Duke is interesting.
Beat bad Temple 30-0.
Beat Northwestern, which seems fine, but Northwestern only win is Nebraska in Ireland and they just lost to an FCS team.
Beat a really bad NC A&T FCS team by 29.
I can see why the line is 9 in favor of Kansas. I just don't think I'll partake in that line.

The open was about -7.5 and then the bandwagon piled on right away. For one, people are loving the story, but KU has also been a cover machine, both spread and points scored. Probably settles back in the 8 range.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 9:54 amI can see why the line is 9 in favor of Kansas. I just don't think I'll partake in that line.

Man. I just hope Kansas Athletics is ready for a bigger crowd.
Last time a big crowd happened, here's what happened:
The lines to get into the stadium were crazy long because it was slow.
The concessions ran out of damn near everything.
They rolled out some terrible uniforms.
The wifi/cell service was terrible.
I just hope they over-order concessions. Overstaff the entry gates. Do whatever you can to make the experience a good one. There's a good shot that there's going to be fans in the stands that haven't been in over a decade. Do it right.

they also need to do it right for outside perception, imo
incompetence is never a good look, and many of the CFB eyes are gonna be focused on Lawrence for at least the near future

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I will say this. I think Kansas wins by double digits. That's just too big for my liking. I'd put some money down on anything around the 6 point line.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:00 amThe open was about -7.5 and then the bandwagon piled on right away. I'll be out there, drinking some sort of overpriced Anheuser-Busch concoction.
If you all are able, you should go out there too. Might be witnessing a little bit of history. Look back and say "September 2022, that's when the change was apparent."

Re: Kansas Football 2022 Season
We have 3 consecutive home games now all against what appear to be beatable opponents. I'm a pretty optimistic fan but we have to beat Duke on Saturday for me to start considering 6 wins. Pack the place versus Duke, get a win, and Lawrence will be WILD October 1 for Iowa State.
I was at that last game where there was a huge crowd. It was a total mess. My section was overcrowded with people that just wanted to sit with their friends/family but didn't have tickets for the right seats. Concessions was a mess, lines were insane, the uniforms stunk, and the team laid a turd on the field. Let's not do that again.

ESPN2 please!
( i'm guessing we'll get ESPN2 if we take care of Duke )

Freaking youth football. Game will be done in the Wichita area at 1:30. I just need one freaking night game.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:39 am I'll be out there, drinking some sort of overpriced Anheuser-Busch concoction.

Although, the 2:30 time for Iowa State on 10/1 is the GOAT kickoff time. Eat a nice, unhealthy tailgate lunch. Enter the stadium. Home before too late. It's great.

I was going to say would the odds be better for Gameday coming to Lawrence if it was KU vs. Iowa State both at 4-0 but then realized Iowa State plays Baylor this week so their odds may be longer than ours.

The city needs to do a better job working with the university on logistics for these things. It makes sense that KUAC wants to do a whole makeover of the area rather than just the stadium.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:49 am We have 3 consecutive home games now all against what appear to be beatable opponents. Cell phone coverage, I'm not sure that's on KU, but that's always a mess. Get the WiFi working well--that's something you can control. Laborers--that could be an issue, but tell and allow your vendors to staff up and offer enticing pay.
The stadium is just an absolute mess. If GameDay were coming, they might just turn back around.

I absolutely agree on 2:30. It works out well for all day/night partying in Lawrence, too.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:54 amFreaking youth football. Maybe we can order some thunderstorms for just Wichita on Saturday morning. Youth games are canceled on Friday afternoon.

Here's the thing regarding College GameDay. The hill is PERFECT for that setting. Absolutely perfect.

I remember many were pissed at Perkins because it would/should have been in Lawrence in 2007 (in the bitter, gray cold).
