BIFM
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

lol, I was even at that game. Memory is really failing.

I still don't know if I would have that one in my top 2, but those 3 have to be the biggest November wins in the Self tenure.

1. 2006 vs. Florida
2. 2013 vs. Duke
That Dayton game from Maui has to be towards the top for me. Game itself was amazing, knowing where Dayton ended that season made it that much more fun to go back and watch.

Yep, and I almost included that one as a candidate for #3. My hesitance was just remembering how disappointed we were that we were not able to play Michigan State, so the leadup to the game wasn't quite there compared to some other games. Little did we know how good Toppin and Dayton were.

Beating no. 1 Duke ( and Tatum, Kennard and Grayson ) in Madison Square Garden on a buzzer beater by the eventual NPOY has to be top 3 ( top 2 really - the Florida Kansas is pretty epic ) in the Self era.

First thought with this tourney was how it would fall in line with WC viewing. And also am not confident that KU will be playing the championship on this one. We usually aren't consistent early season tourney champs, even with teams that return a lot.
KU hasn't lost a early season tourney since Wiggins and Embiid lost in the Atlantis tourney.

21-22: won the ESPN Events title
20-21: didn't do one
19-20: won Maui title
18-19: won NIT Season Tip off title
17-18: won game over Syracuse dubbed the Miami Hoophall Classic but no true early season tourney
16-17: won CBE Classic title
15-16: won Maui title
14-15: won Orlando Classic title
13-14: lost in semis of Battle for Atlantis
I stand corrected in terms of recent history. Guessing I confused some of the early season tourneys with other high-ish profile non-con games where we lost.

Can't believe it's been that long since we played/lost in Atlantis.
All though ugly games in KC leave a bad taste in the mouth.

I don't believe so - lost to Dayton.
The officials called the terrible offensive foul on Dave and then they miracle banked/bounced some shit in.

Ooops, I stand corrected. The game we won was the third place game. good catch.

I think Bama was on the other side of the bracket and got upset early.

I wish KU would stop accepting the CBE invites. Only do it if like UNC, duke or Nova are involved.

The reason they do it regularly is because it's in KC. If I remember right, when it very first started, they had a rotation going where there was always one of KU, K-State, and Mizzou in it every year.

Yes, for the most part. And I've always felt there was some kind of obligation of the local schools to accept the invite from the local organization, whether that's true or not. Certainly there could be a larger ticket allotment for the local schools.

But, what has changed since it first began is that the Sprint Center was constructed and now hosts a ton of other games where KU is involved. The CBE event is the most likely of any KU game in KC to have a watered down atmosphere.

I would certainly rather they play another home game but I get why they do them. But I refuse to attend them.

Looks like we were on a 4-year rotation but haven't done it since 2016--maybe COVID was part of that, but I'd be good if we were done with it for awhile absent a big out of conference brand being there.

Probably closer to 9:00 CT or so.

East coaster Shirley will have to DVR it.

I thought there was a more comprehensive schedule thread, more so than just non con.

But that graphic displays the non con, so it's not entirely out of place, even if it displays the conference schedule too.

that graphic is also misleading in that it bills the "full" schedule, even though it only displays a schedule through March 4.

Or, maybe that graphic knows something we don't about the F the NCAA thread.

well, the only thing more NCAA than dragging feet for years only to bring down a postseason ban just weeks before a new season starts, would be bringing down the ban once the season's already started.

watch em get real cute and announce it like the Friday before Selection Sunday.

Stay tuned!
