Re: Chiefs 2022
As dumb as the chris Jones penalty was, im not blaming the game on him. There was so much other bad shit the chiefs did before that. They should have never been in position to lose that
Re: Chiefs 2022
Ammendola kicks off short to start the game. They return it to the 34. Three and out but get a field position punt. You can argue Ammendola made that possible too. Weak leg. This reminds me of Marty's last few awful games in denial about kicking. Remember Lin Eliot? It was that game again. Colts. Grrrrrr.
Re: Chiefs 2022
All we needed was a 1st down or two and we're outta there with a W. Chris Jones fucked that up. On him.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Chiefs 2022
Didn't see the game, what did Jones do?
Re: Chiefs 2022
Late in the game. Colts 3rd down. Jones tackles Ryan for a big loss. Jones gets up, gets in Ryan's face and gives them 15 yards and a 1st down. Leads to a touchdown and Chiefs loss.
Defense. Rebounds.

You don’t see a lot of flags for talking

Special teams lost this game. Dropped punt at the Colts 4 yard line, missed PAT and a missed field goal. Need Butker back.
And Toub needs his ass chewed out, or fired.

Re: Chiefs 2022
Third down though. They might have gone for it on fourth The Chargers got bailed out in a similar situation last year. Exactly like that game execution wise. Special teams made it close enough to lose.

Re: Chiefs 2022
Kelce catches that ball in the end zone the game is over. He had a couple of drops today. Very low on the list.
This is two games in a row, at least that I have noticed that Brown Jr is getting beating like a drum. He is costing himself millions. Very high on the list.
Special teams was terrible. Awful. I’ve said it before that Reid’s loyalty is going to cost him. Toub is exhibit 1 and EB is becoming exhibit 2. Near the top of the list.
Jones penalty was just dumb but how in the world do you call that. Refs weren’t that great. Very near the bottom.

Re: Chiefs 2022
You can both say it was dumb of Chris Jones to taunt Ryan and dumb of the officials to flag him for it.
One name not mentioned here yet who I think should have been let go last season ( and I think the Chiefs wanted to but couldn’t ) and is to blame for yesterday is Bienemy. He and Mahomes were seen twice screaming at each other on the sidelines. The animosity boiled over in the Bengals game last season and it’s continued over to this season.

Re: Chiefs 2022
I saw that. I thought Mahommie wanted to run another play before halftime.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Chiefs 2022
The thing is you see players jawing at each other all the time after a play and "normally" the refs just separate them and play on. Why call an unsportsmanlike flag there? I don't really care what was said, but Ryan probably had a few words with Jones as well that instigated it.
Re: Chiefs 2022
There was no physical contact - Ryan said something to Jones and Jones responded ( with naughty language likely ).
This was because it was Matt Ryan versus "big ol scary mean" Chris Jones.
Referee made it about him.
4th and 13 with 5 minutes left, up 4.

Re: Chiefs 2022
I’m less concerned about EB and 15. If it came down to it and the Chiefs had to choose between 15 and EB we all know what happens. Disagreements take place. That seems like a lot of smoke but no fire.
Chiefs lost yesterday because they didn’t execute at all three levels. Every unit had a hand in yesterday’s lost.

"Disagreements take place."
The disagreement in the first half of the Bengals game led to an entire second half of fighting between Mahomes, Reid and Bienemy.
Reid had to stop the two from fighting yesterday. I think it's a pattern.

"On a third-and-8 from the Indy 39-yard line, linebacker Nick Bolton appeared to end the Colts' drive by sacking Ryan. After the play, though, defensive tackle Chris Jones was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, extending the possession with an automatic first down.
After the game, referee Shawn Smith indicated to a pool reporter the penalty was for "abusive language toward an opponent." I have my misgivings about penalties for language on the football field, and it's disappointing to see such a pivotal moment in a game determined by a referee's opinion of what might have hurt Ryan's feelings."
